And would you agree or disagree because you knew anything about what it was like to be a woman (of any color)? I agree. No. I don't know what it is like to be a woman but I do know what it is like to be a minority.

But now that you're requesting a response, I'll provide it. I think in some situations white males have preferential treatment. I think in other cases, women (of any color) are the ones being given favor. In some situations minorities are favored. My primary answer is that everyone is involved in situations where we can be treated with or without favor, whether it's based on race, gender, sexual preference, religious beliefs, weight, height, occupation, socioeconomic status, geography/home, etc. etc. If I am the victim of favoritism in the negative sense, that's incredibly unfortunate. However, that does not give me a license to go out & regurgitate the same unfairness that Mr. Freeman has done in this particular instance.

September 27, 201114 yr Author You know, I've reflected upon this over night, and to be far more concise than is my nature: Slandering a person or an entire group of people, based upon nothing more than the accused's appearance and the accuser's background, fears and beliefs is precisely the core of true RACISM. For Mr. Freeeman to do this based entirely upon his background, fears and beliefs (without forwarding one tangible objective shred of proof to support his assertion) is exactly the same stuff that RACISM is made of. It matters not whether the accuser is an Academy Award winning actor, a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, or some half-baked, southern redneck sharecropper. Did anyone see "To Kill a Mockingbird"? Can no one see this? Mr. Freeman is doing exactly what he is accusing the Tea Party of doing. AND for supposedly CREDIBLE journalists to accept and forward his opinion without an objective balance is precisely why many of us believe that true journalism in this country is dead. :thumb: Well said and spot on!

I will say that I believe minorities of any sort can better understand/identify bias than those who've not experienced it. I especially love the "unintended bias". 9/10 times it's not at all unintended, but intentionally cloaked. Even more disgusting than blatant bias.

But that doesn't permit me to turn around & dish out the very same stuff that I abhor when I personally experience it. And that is exactly what Morgan Freeman has done here.

September 29, 201114 yr For the record, I think Morgan Freeman is a fantastic actor. I actually enjoy his work on screen. I have no qualms about seeing more of his work. He is certainly entitled to his opinion and feelings. I am entitled to disagree with him and point out the holes in his argument. :thumb: This.
