*IMO, Boyle's biggest rival should be Lexington Catholic. That game means more, it usually has the largest crowd and it is usually played twice a year. I am not from Boyle County so the LexCath game means the most to me.

 

For Boyle County it is without a doubt Danville.

 

However Lex Cath means just as much IMO because of their Districts histories. Boyle's first 2 state titles, the Rebels had to beat LC twice each year and both times were the only losses Lex Cath sustained.

 

From '79 to '82 I felt Somerset was Boyle's biggest rivalry because of the District factor and the great games the schools played.

Fort Campbell’s biggest rival recently has been Owensboro Catholic, but that all changed this year when FC moved up to 3A. Prior to 2007 I think Trigg County was a bigger rival than OC and might be again since FC and Trigg are back in the same district. Of course there is always Fort Knox, the only other Army high school in the U.S., that play every year in the Army Bowl.

Our biggest rival is Duke.

Currently CovCath, but when I was in school (in the age of stone tablets) it was NewCath. They were both good rivalries because they were in the same district (or sub-district) as Highlands, but NewCath had the added attraction of being just down the road a ways and stocked with kids we all grew up and went to grade school with. Not so much with CovCath.

I miss the old NCC rivalry. When we were in the same sub-district it was even better.

 

I wonder if Johnson Central isn't becoming our biggest rival -- at least, on the statewide level.

Football for NewCath would have to be Beechwood. If we take all sports into account, I'd say Highlands.

Rivals for Frankfort have changed over periods of time.

 

Franklin Co. becuase they are just 5 miles away.

 

Paris has been there best rival most due to all the regional and district championships that had been decided during that game.

 

Harrodsburg was another classic rival.

 

Last couple of years Frankfort and Danville have the beginings of a good rival.

 

Frankfort would love for Beechwood to be the biggest, that would mean Frankfort would have to win a few in order to get the attention of the Beechies.

John Hardin vs North Hardin. With North dropping to 5A and joining our district it has added even more fuel to the rivalry.

For Franklin County I would honestly make the case that Woodford and Harrison are bigger and more important rivals than Frankfort and Western Hills (even though Harrison wouldn't schedule Franklin County this year )
