Disclaimer: smack talk happens in football, that's part of the game. However, you don't hear Newcath kids talking about the Brossart game quite like the Brossart kids talk about it. To Brossart, this is the SuperBowl. To Newcath, this is another game to get better on the way to another state championship

 

OK, if this is true, it like NewCath being in the GCL (Moeller, St. X, Elder and LaSalle) and them trying to trash talk about how they are going to be legit this year. Obviously Brossart player feel the need to spout off. NewCath is a team of stature in NKY. Basicly what I'm saying here is trash talk is illegitimate. I mean who cares! It happens.

I guess what I'm going to say here as a Brossart fan (not even really a football fan) is that WOW, I think and obviously some you you NewCath people show that you feel seriously threatened by Brossart. And Brossart fans (myself included) feel the need to prove ourselves with what has gone on in this thread. Brossart is legitimate and has been for quite some time, if you haven't seen that then your blind or can't read the basketball and baseball scores in the morning newspaper. This isn't about state title / regional titles / wins / loses. This is just football, in which Brossart is in its infancy.

 

Just by reading this thread it is amazing to me. It would seem there are more Brossart "haters" then I would have thought.

Things I have learned from this thread:

 

1) NCC is highly favored to win this game. Since we all get along so well and know who's going to win anyway, let's forget about the game and have an ice cream social or a cookout.

 

2) Experience must count. Put the two rosters side by side and we look an awfully lot alike.

 

3) If NCC wins decidedly tonight, Brossart will become an all-girls school starting next year because all of the junior high boys will flock to NCC. Fact: The perception of your school in the junior high ranks is largely predicated on your success in athletics.

 

4) We both have Jesus, but he must roll his eyes at us on occasion.

 

5) The fact that Brossart's ACT scores average nearly 2 points higher than those achieved at NCC means nothing. It's not NCC's fault. The inner-city Catholic Grade schools are to blame.

 

6) NCC is superior at baseball. I didn't know that. I thought we were pretty much equal in that department.

 

7) The fact that NCC has a 50 year head start and that at some point will become competitive with NCC on the gridiron means nothing - Only tonight counts!

 

8) Justin Seiter, Jeff Clark, Nick Ziegler, Jon Lloyd, Ryan Anderson, Steve McCarthy, Michael Schenk, Kevin Smith, Brett Reilly, Troy and Jason Cooper, Nate Mutsch, Kyle Kramer, Josh Kidney, Matt Lloyd, Bryan Niemeyer, Luke Rebholz, Brad Seiter, Kyle Lubbers, and maybe Jimmy Uebel would have all sucked at football and would not have made an impact on our football future. Only Evan McDole would have been worthy to be considered a good football player. I'm glad I learned that. Now I can sleep better at night knowing that only NCC has the proper formula for developing football players.

 

9) We are doing kids who come to Brossart a disservice by depriving them the grand and glorious opportunity to play in a winning program while enjoying a spectacular view of the city. That's about 1/2 right.

 

10) There was never a proposed merger of the two schools by Bishop Hughes. I must have been hallucinating.

 

11) If the KHSAA says we are ready for 2-A football, then we must be ready for 2-A football - Stop whining, we could be Pendleton County!

 

12) Only those who can back it up are permitted to be arrogant.

 

13) We dictate where and how we host tournaments. I learn something new every day.

 

14) One of our girls' teams provides inflated stats to the newspapers???? OK, Survey says..........

Is it possible that Freshman Justin Schack actually didn't have 15 tackles in the Dayton game???

IF it is on Melvin's website it must be true.

 

15) I don't remember seeing NCC featured on MTV. One upped you there!

 

16) Some of the parents of both programs are out of control - YES!!!

Ours are actually presently taking in-house Anger Management training - TRUE

 

17) People who live in Independence ar served Blue and Gold Kool-Aid.

 

18) We beat our chests about beating down Heritage!!!!!

Wait a minute - WE"VE NEVER PLAYED HERITAGE.

 

19) In 2005 and 2007 when Brossart basketball was ranked Number 1 (sorry if I'm being arrogant) in the final Northern Kentucky Coaches Polls, the 9th Region must have been located somewhere else.

 

20) All kids from families with NCC roots go to NCC. Ugh, NO!

 

21) Mason County with Chris Loften and Darius Miller were cupcakes. Don't let them hear you say that!!!!

You forgot that the 9th region is far superior to the 10th region. Brossart should fight to become part of the 9th region because the 10th region is so weak in baseball and basketball... PLEASE....

I seriously doubt the Brossart kids are stupid enough to talk smack to an obviously superior opponent?? Seems like some of the NCC faithful on here are making this game more than it is, not the kids??

I agree. It was a group of parents, and I think that it has been blown way out of proportion. That has nothing to do with my dislike for Brossart.

I think that NewCath will get the football players from the south, lose most of the kids from St. Mary's that don't play football (as they have for years) and watch the classes from St. Joes go back and forth. That seems to be what has happened. What really hasn't happened in the past is for BOTH schools to lose good athletes to Highlands. That is a trend that seems just as likely to continue, especially as kids like Harris start to get more exposure.

 

St Joe's will lose 2 very good ones the next couple of years.

Sure both kids had at least 1 parent go to Highlands but it is what it is. These 2 kids will walk into Highlands and be major impacts with the sports program their Freshman year. Both play on the same team now in the FTJFL. Even the grandpa of the 8th grader Wayne Carlisle couldn't persuade him to travel to Park Hills to help the mighty Colonels. Looks like Highlands might of just landed a major player if you know what I mean. Ziegler will be a good one!!!

Yep, you start losing 2 per class and that adds up to at least 4 impact players that small schools can't lose. Part of that however, is that the players have parents that went to Highlands. In years past, those students would have been at St. Catherine, or St. Thomas, but w/ the development of Cold Spring, families that would have stayed in Ft. Thomas are now elsewhere.

I was saying the same thing earlier to someone. Wow, I don't have to worry about looking over my shoulder as much now when I wear my HHS gear....Whew!!

Not entirely true! I personally know of someone that both parents attended HHS and live in Ft Thomas and sent their child to NCC while the siblings all went or go to HHS as we speak. Happens all the time! Same could be said about an NCC family having a kid at HHS while the entire family went to either NewCath or Notre Dame Academy. This also is happening as we speak!

This just in..........prior to the National Anthem tonight at the NewCath/ Brossart game there will be a "big group hug" at the 50 yard line for all fans and team members.
