BB will always be NewCath little Red headed step brother. Sure they will win now and again in some sports but from top to bottom year in and year out, not going to hapen. Lets also not forget what HS is really about. NewCath has far better programs other than sports and with all the new updates a BEAUTIFUL campus up on the hill. I live in Independence and my kids will be going to SK so no I am not being a homer. NewCath in the classroom and out is miles and miles above BB IMO. Why did BB even start football, was there really 50 kids begging for it or was the real reason from behind closed doors of the BB adults crying about St Joe and St Mary kids going to NewCath. We have been seeing those tears for 30 years. To make it a real rival BB needs to stop talking about basketball and playing in the 10th. Go to the state fight to get in the 9th were better basketball in NKY is played. Congrats you beat the Grove, Calvery, Heritage by 40. Give me a break. I think you Campbell County people should just build one big school, with its own football field since you both need it, in wilder off the AA highway. BB kids will help track and soccer and NewCath with basketball and football. "Campbell County Catholic" could be a power!! How about being called the Stallions? will have to be some type of horse.

This would never have happened because the Diocese is committed to making Catholic High School education accessible to the inner city. Moving the school to a centralized location in the county would not be consistent with that goal.

True story. Not a myth. Obviously you are not up on your Brossart-NCC history.

The property was available - located opposite St. Joe, Cold Spring, where the Patient First complex now sits.

I'm sure they would hve provided bussing to the "inner city" kids.

Talk about arrogance............

FYI - The Enquirer reported this week that the Brossart ACT scores were nearly 2 points higher on average than those achieved at NCC. This has been a non-flaunted fact for the past 5/10 years. Brossart has been light years ahead of NCC in technology and computer advancement as well. You've obviously drank the "what is perceived to be bigger, older, and more visible must be best kool aid."

Check your basketball facts and you might find that in additon to wins over Silver Grove and Calvary, we have also defeated NCC in basketball 7 of our last 11 outings. Incidentally, we don't play Heritage.

Football at Brossart was actually started for 1 player. There was no demand for it, and the timing was bad due to our overall athlete pool at the time, and it has been an uphill battle since then. My caveat to our administration had always been that if we were going to do football it needed to be an asset to us, and not something that could be used against us. The football folks at Brossart are really trying hard to make a go of it, but if we were going to have started football it should have been in 2002 when Anderson, McCarthy, McDole, Schenk, Smith, Reilly, and Cooper were freshmen and would have given us a great nucleus to build on, and then right back with Troy Cooper, Nate Mutsch, Kyle Kramer, Josh Kidney, Matt Lloyd, Bryan Niemeyer, Luke Rebholz, Kyle Lubbers, and maybe Jimmy Uebel would have sustained it. Had we started football then instead of when we did, the poll at the top of this page would be much more balanced and there would be a real discussion about who the winner of this game might be.

Seems we both missed the merger bus some time ago.

I concur w/ that. Would have been nice to have somebody like Teddy Verst or Kyle Dawson playing football, or ESPECIALLY McDole. That kid would have been an All world Wide Receiver/Tight End.

It is also true that the Bishop had a wild hair about having a Catholic school in the inner city. I don't know, busing isn't a major concern for the kids in the Southern Part of Campbell Co. why is it one for the kids from Dayton, Bellevue, and Newport?

Now I have taken my shots at Brossart about some of what I have seen but........Ky. Joe the academics at Brossart are ahead of the academics at NCC. Now the St. Mary and St. Joe's issue is something that is heard about from Brossart folk............But if you read one of my previous posts if Brossart ever kept "the kids at home" so to speak NCC would have real enrollment issues. Lets face it NCC is land locked and really does not have a population to draw from in Newport, Bellevue, Dayton..............Keep in mind that as of the early 1980's you had 4 Catholic feeder schools in Newport, 2 in Bellevue and 1 in Dayton.............Plus the two in Fort Thomas and the one in Southgate........the 7 from Newport, Bellevue and Dayton are all now one school and it is the smallest of the feeder schools. They had three boys in the graduating class at that school this past year. St. Therese has become the largest feeder with the two Ft. Thomas schools always sending a good amount of kids to Highlands. If the dicoese is committed to the two schools in Campbell County they must allow NCC to draw from what used to be considered Brossart "feeder" schools......which they always have. Quite frankly even in the early 90's NCC was drawing kids from the outlying schools like St. Peter and Paul. The basketball coach at the time at Brossart whoever was before Coach Schlarman kind of put a stop to that and reeled in some of "the big fish" from the feeder schools that before then would have gone to NCC. Kids like Nathan Seiter, Curtis Bezold, Ryan Horan, the Sendelbach kid............all started a trend.........and having played against those guys if any of them would have gone to NCC and hooked up with the Aaron Mann's and that group they would have won even more games on the hill.

But what I have observed is Brossart has had a complex when it comes to NCC. They starting getting rid of that as they had success in all sports aginst them. Football is throwing them right back into that complex of being "the little brother." Their program went through too many head coaches early on..............screwed up in the hiring previously and then went to a veteran coach with a lot of wins and that was botched..........So this program is really needing stability.

My observations I put in post 41 about the Brossart athletic programs.

I'm not sure how many kids from St. Joe's chose NCC over Brossart last year but I can tell you that only 4 kids from St. Mary ended up at NCC. 3 of those kids came from NCC families so they were going to NCC no matter what.

I think that NewCath will get the football players from the south, lose most of the kids from St. Mary's that don't play football (as they have for years) and watch the classes from St. Joes go back and forth. That seems to be what has happened. What really hasn't happened in the past is for BOTH schools to lose good athletes to Highlands. That is a trend that seems just as likely to continue, especially as kids like Harris start to get more exposure.

I still wonder why there is a poll on this game. NCC is undefeated and Brossart lost to Dayton big. I guess the two votes Brossart received are from some serious Mustang fans blinded by their loyalty.

Really? Mason and GRC may have something to say about that. Over the last 6 years both Regions are 9-5 in the state tourney. Each have 1 title. Holmes has won all the games for the 9th. Non Holmes teams are 0-3 . The 10th has won at least one game every year but 2009. Gas up the car and head to the fieldhouse for a game. I used to think the same thing, I was not a big fan of the 10th and traveling, but you have to respect their hoops!

Just got an email regarding this event:

"This Friday night at the NCC vs BBHS game, there will be a small military tribute for our servicemen and women.

Do you know of any former BBHS/CCHS students on active duty or currently deployed?

They do not care where the student went to high school, they just want that servicemen/women recognized.

They will be announcing names of those serving during halftime.

They also plan to ship boxes to all those on active duty to currently deployed.

The NCC students will be wearing red, white and blue, and they are asking our students to do the same.

The NCC football team’s service project for this season was directed on collecting items to send to the troops.

NCC will have a Bonfire for their students after the game in the hopes of raising money to ship the boxes.

IT WOULD BE GREAT, if we could raise a little money ourselves and help them get a few boxes over to our servicemen and women."

Very nice touch by NCC and Brossart both. The two schools also just had the hits for chicks event during a volleyball game to support the fight against breast cancer.

After all of the bantering it is good to see the two schools join together to do what is right!!

Sort of puts every thing into perspective! :sssh:

City of Cold Spring wasn't going to let it happen. No taxes and more traffic the reason.

An opinion that is not even close to fact, quite the opposite for well over a decade.

Regarding the game, the Newcath staff has too much class to run it up and has nothing to prove. The true fb players have always looked north, either in Ft. Thomas or Newport.

First "tooting your own horn" would be statements being made.....not performance on the field.

Secondly, as a Brossart opponent for many years I have witnessed and can verify many beatdowns and embarrassing scores by one of your former boys coaches and one of your former girls coaches, the arrogance of two of your more recent boy and girl coaches, the superiority complex of your AD and your coaches when it involves the All A tournaments ever since they were moved into the 10th region, the inflexibility when it comes to where and how you host tournaments, the yearly inflated and laughable stats turned into the newspaper in at least one of your sports, etc. These are the examples I have personally witnessed as your opponent.

Sounds like a girls sport perhaps?
