This has to be the craziest game thread in BGP history.

Obviously, Brossart is way more concerned with NewCath than vice versa. Newcath isnt concerned with their overall record against one particular school. They are more concerned with winning regional & state titles. Maybe Brossart should concern themselves more with finding a way to beat the likes of Scott in basketball, Harrison Co in baseball and everyone else in their path to get to a regional title. They claim they tell kids "Come here to play for Championships", well that should obviously be the motto for NewCath because that is all they do. Regional titles should come much easier in the 10th region than they do the 9th. Normally the 10th region will have 1-2 teams that have a legitimate shot to win a regional title in baseball and basketball where as the 9th region has 6 of the 8 with legit shots. Getting back to the topic at hand, NCC wins this game very easily, the starters play the first half at the most and the underclassmen finish it up. Knowing Coach Eviston and his staff they will never humiliate Brossart or anyone else, they respect their opponents and the game of football too much. Let's hope we hear a huge "USA" chant from both sides as we honor the men and women of our armed forces.

Best post yet. I think NewCath will only win by 21-28 points with JV in most second half. The staff wont let the score get out of hand. then some posters will be on here saying BB can hang with NewCath or they arent far behind.

That is a ridiculous statement.

 

Why is it a ridiculous statement? Newcath's players are talented enough and far enough ahead of Brossart that if they take care of business, Brossart shouldn't be atble to stop them scoring, no matter who is on the field, hence "Players name the score." Also, Brossart players have been running their mouths, it's just a true statement. Why is it ridiculous to state a fact?

I seriously doubt the Brossart kids are stupid enough to talk smack to an obviously superior opponent?? Seems like some of the NCC faithful on here are making this game more than it is, not the kids??

I would hope that Brossart kids are talking because believing is a big part of winning. And I don't believe for a minute that NCC is thinking of this as just another game. It's Brossart and NCC. The battle of of Campbell County catholics. Play hard boys and may the best team win.

BB will always be NewCath little Red headed step brother. Sure they will win now and again in some sports but from top to bottom year in and year out, not going to hapen. Lets also not forget what HS is really about. NewCath has far better programs other than sports and with all the new updates a BEAUTIFUL campus up on the hill. I live in Independence and my kids will be going to SK so no I am not being a homer. NewCath in the classroom and out is miles and miles above BB IMO. Why did BB even start football, was there really 50 kids begging for it or was the real reason from behind closed doors of the BB adults crying about St Joe and St Mary kids going to NewCath. We have been seeing those tears for 30 years. To make it a real rival BB needs to stop talking about basketball and playing in the 10th. Go to the state fight to get in the 9th were better basketball in NKY is played. Congrats you beat the Grove, Calvery, Heritage by 40. Give me a break. I think you Campbell County people should just build one big school, with its own football field since you both need it, in wilder off the AA highway. BB kids will help track and soccer and NewCath with basketball and football. "Campbell County Catholic" could be a power!! How about being called the Stallions? will have to be some type of horse.

If Brossart wasn in the 9th region in 2005 & 2007 they would have won that region (Chris Lofton & Darius Miller & a Pendleton Co team that was a top 5 state team). They swept the 9th region both of those years in basketball. Before you go endulging yourself in something you have no business talking about, you should at least try to attempt to know what your talking about!!!

Wow! There really are some over zealous people making statements on here. So I'll chime in as I see it...

 

Brossart is not a football school and it will be years before they will be able to sustain any success. Some of those St. Joe kids do select to go to NCC because of football (I know, because if Brossart had not started a football program, I would have sent my son to NCC for the opportunity to play football). Brossart is no where near ready for the bump up to 2A. They only recently (as of last year had any success against their 1A district opponents). NCC has kept a core of quality coaches to continue their strong program. NCC players have bought into a tradition of winning and preparing themselves to be able to step in when it is their time. Until Brossart establishes a quality program with consistant success, they will remain a roller coaster team. The folks at Brossart thought the future was looking bright with a big sophomore class (with some good football players, like Equus Grevyi points out) and what they anticipated was a big freshman class. However, those frosh number did not materialize (some fingers were pointed to a former coach who convinced kids not play for BB's coach). As of now, there is too much disparity from top to bottom between these schools. Brossart has a handful of players that could play at NCC, just not enough of them right now.

 

Bishop Brossart has enjoyed success in other sports. Football is lagging but I believe will eventually catch up. They know it is a David/Goliath story here. I know both teams will play hard. I hope both teams come out injury free (for NCC to go on a title run and for Brossart to continue to grow and build your program)

I think this demonstrates part of the problem that is plaguing the growth and development of Brossart football. All of the guys mentioned here were great athletes and some certainly had very good size, strength and agility, however, none of them were football players. Good athletes are great to "round out" a football roster and you may find a star receiver or tight end in this group but you need football players to be successfull. You need guys that have played the game for 6 years and already know the basics and have developed an instinct for the game. Weren't Cooper, Kidney, Uebel and others in this group very good soccer players? Why would they have put aside years of soccer development to jump to a fledgling football program?

 

This is what still gives the small NKY schools the edge over a program like Brossart. It will take years and years to develop a football program.

 

I can agree with this 100%. For Brossart, it was going to take years for them, whether they started it in 1955 or 1990 or 2010. As a person who has played jr jigh football for NewCath and then went to Brossart, I'm proud of these Brossart football players. They are the pioneers. I wish them success, but it is going to be a tough road. Its going to take them a long time to compete with the NewCath's / Beechwood's of NKY. I guess what kind of upsets me is that some (not all) of the NewCath fans on here are so upset/how dare they/show them whose boss about Brossart starting a football team.
