Colerain (OH) Coach Confronts St. Xavier (OH) Student Section

Stuff like that has been directed at NC in the past too , heck someone painted h - - - hill on the driveway up to NCC 2 years ago and the ladies have been attending there since '84 . I guess traditions at some public schools never die .

Why did it take the head coach of the opposing team to leave his huddle...WAY AFTER THE GAME WAS OVER....walk all the way across the field to address the situation?
Right here, leads many to think "he lost it"!

Before someone misunderstands your point let me say that I've been bothered by chants made by Catholic school student sections as well. No one owns the patent on cheers that upset others.

I think it's sad that this situation has gotten this much attention. However, when you are considered a leader and one of the best at what you do, it's bound to happen.

Let me be perfectly clear here. I was at the game. I saw what happened. And I spoke with Coach Bolden about it specifically after the game. I know exactly what happened, how it happened, and what was said.

Coach Bolden did the right thing. It is a real shame that more people can't see that. It's not 1950 anymore folks...there are some cheers that are not appropriate and cheering, nay, taunting the other team by claiming they don't have Jesus because they don't go to a private school is in poor taste at best.

What's really sad is that no one is asking where the St. X administrators were during this debacle? Why did it take the head coach of the opposing team to leave his huddle...WAY AFTER THE GAME WAS OVER....walk all the way across the field to address the situation? You gotta believe there was a St. X admin SOMEWHERE in the vicinity, wouldn't you? Why didn't they step up and do something about it?

Nevertheless, the important thing is that this was the only blackmark on the entire evening. It was an AWESOME football game between two very good football teams. The young men were respectful towards each other before, during and after the game. Many hugs and handshakes. I was thoroughly impressed. Bolden and Specht met each other at mid-field and embraced as rival coaches and friends. Well done across the board.

Please don't let this paint a poor picture of either team, program or community.

Oh Please !!!!!!!!!
What in the heck is the big deal? Sounds like the typical Highlands vs. Cov. Cath. game to me. Someone needs to grow some.:D

No kidding. It sounds like a coach got overheated after a loss to a rival. Reminds me of Joe Buck over reacting to Randy Moss mock mooning the Packers fans after a TD. Get caught up in the moment and freak out a little...why did he get so upset?

Oh Please !!!!!!!!!

Is that all it takes for Colerain admin to flip its wig a dumb cheer? Lighten up and learn how to handle a loss the right way

Jeez, I see both chants as harmless and kind of funny. No reason for a coach to confront the opposing fans over it. Sounds like he just lost his composure after a tough loss.

Pretty sure he has a winless record against the St. X student section.

Which school do you cheer for quickslick?

Ouch. :D

Now, about Bolden. H=Is he under pressure which is why he had that reaction? Typically has great talent. Will win their share of games but has been underwhelming and not as feared since Coombs left.

Here is my two cents! We at Trinity have faced these chants for years in all the highly student attended sports from the publics here in Louisville (Ballard, Eastern, Male, Manual and Seneca), just to name a few. I don't like it... but if the school admins allow it, it will always continue.

Believe me... I could go on about this type of behavior, but it seems to be like beating a dead horse. Let's play football!!!

I must say it has been a breathe of fresh air to replace some of those teams with class programs and fans like Tenn. Brentwood Academy, Tenn. Montgomery Bell Academy, Cinn. Elder, Cinn St. X, Indianapolis Cathederal, and Cinn. Moeller.

I think this is dead on. Colerain just lost to a rival at home, snapping Colerain's 61-game home win streak. Plus, the game came down to the end and could have gone either way. Tempers/emotions got a little heated... Nothing more, nothing less.
What amazes me is that this board shows far more interest in the other side of the river than to the South of I-64.

Off topic, I know.

First there has to be something worth talking about that is south of 64

How boring and uneventful is football in KY that this topic is still on the top of page one of a discussion forum intended to discuss KENTUCKY High School Football!!

It's about as ridiculous as the head coach of a high school football team bolting from his post-game huddle after a loss halfway across the field to chastise the opponent's fans for a cheer.

It's not ridiculous at all if you are a man of God and the cheer genuinely offends you. But I don't expect kids at a private school to think twice before using the name of God or Jesus in something as trivial as a student section cheer. I mean, it's funny and been done for decades so it must be ok, right?
