Colerain (OH) Coach Confronts St. Xavier (OH) Student Section

Correct, if I heard that it would mean they are lucky enough to have girls. That is how I would take it. If they said "Soap on a rope" then I may say they are implying the boys are gay.

Bolden made a donkey of himself in front of everyone by doing that. He should have saved it for after the game or went to Specht at that moment so it could be addressed by St. X administrators. I will agree there.

I am a bit surprised atyour naivete.

It is the meaning of the cheer AND it is harmless. Just like the X response.

Which of these do you believe to be true?

Colerain students truly believe the X boys are gay.

X students truly believe that God is only in their lives and not Colerain?

Why do you believe the Colerain chant was inferring that the St X students are gay? (also mentioned by someone else)

Dont get me wrong, I am not a bible thumper by any means. I honestly wouldnt take offense to either cheers. I am just saying I can see where maybe the X cheer might stir more folks the wrong way.

Years of hearing it.

Plus, I was once a teen cheering against an all-boys school.

Guaranteed.

Yeah and we all know that its only like 40% of the students are gay so making a blanket accusation is just stupid! (j/K)

I have to wonder why that gets reported on the cincinnati.com website.

It gets reportedbecause a coach never confronts a student body.

Why is this even on a KY High School football forum?

Why are you on a KY high school football forum?

Made an issue out of nothing.

Again as a poster said earlier, they are a Christian school and should say they have Jesus. That is what their school is built on. They didn't say, "You are going to Hell," or," You don't have Jesus." They simply said that they have Jesus. Both teams can have Jesus.

Colerain cheering, "We have girls," as another poster said earlier could mean that it's funny you don't have girls, or that you are a bunch of gay people...

It was really a non-issue until the sore losing coach brought it up. Control what you can control.

These chants came up when I was in High School in basketball during Highlands Cov Cath games, and it's a bunch of people supporting their school trying to be creative. Trying to think of a funny cheer to one-up the other team, yes without being offensive. I mean what do they expect them to say?

I guess it all boils down to I dont see that as offensive.

Because it's a good topic of debate in High School football. Really though? You don't think people should talk about it? .... Come on man

Hold on a minute ... I am calling bull on all of this.

According to the story .. Bolden comes out of his team huddle at the end of the game ... and makes his comments. (AFTER the game being the key words in this sceario).

Past history tells me that Colerain students leave immediately following the game (win or lose--and yes--I have been to more than a few Colerain games).

I call bull on the people from X saying that the Colerain students instigated this with their "we have girls" cheer ... why?

Because ... both teams made it through the lines ... shook hands ... then took a few minutes to get situated in their huddle.

From there .... Bolden waits for the team, cheerleaders and coaches (who were coming down from the box).

My understanding is that he was in to his post game talk .. then the cheer came.

From here ... it is pretty hard for me to believe that the X faithful can claim that Colerain instigated this--because even if it did happen ... it was a WHILE before St. X made their move.

(And yes .. I know a little more than I am sharing here).

Come on, Coach.

It's a silly chant, harmful to say the least, and you come bolting out of a post-game huddle ?

Please.

QS, not sure when the supposed Colerain cheer happened. Sounds like it was more than one cheer that the X kids responded to.

You are correct that he was in his post-game huddle.

I have a HARD TIME believing that X was responding to a cheer that happened at least 10 to 15 minutes earlier.

At the same time you have to ask why a student section would suddenly break out the cheer after the game for no reason. In other words, we are missing parts of the story.
