Should Joker be fired after today's game? Should he secretly start lining up a new coach for next year and axe Joker at the season's end? What should he do?

Not much he can do other than hire a big name coach which isn't going to happen.

The plane has experienced some heavy turbulence and lost a lot of altitude but might be leveling off. Maybe some in flight repairs can be done and they can start gaining altitude again.

They messed up by doing the coach in waiting with Joker. Yes UK really only had one good SEC year under Brooks, however it did at least seem like the program was slowly on it's way up. So UK had an opportunity to possibly take another step in the right direction or at least have a slow incline in success with the program. At the time when Brooks left, the UK job would of been a job that could have attracted some up and coming coaches. They maybe could have got a guy with head coaching experience, who was having success at a smaller school. Or maybe a better hot up and coming assistant at a top program. I am not saying the shouldn't have considered Joker but they at least should have opened it up. They were in a good spot to do something when Brooks retired, but they failed to do that. Then if Joker really was the best candidate after opening things up, then yeah give him the job. However they messed up just giving it to him. This is only his second year, so he can get it going so I am giving him the benefit of the doubt still. I just think UK messed up with how they came about hiring the new coach after Brooks.

I'm afraid you're right. Barnhart didn't mess around when he canned Gillispie. I'm curious to see how patient he is with Joker. He gave Brooks a lot of time, but Brooks inherited a much worse team, and Joker was already in the system.

 

With Billy G though there appeared to be other things going on that people didn't like, which made it even easier to can him. If he didn't have all that other stuff going on, I would have been surprised if he still would have fired him after two seasons.

I am not a fan of Jokers offensive approach. His offensive co-ordinators no matter who they are will be handicapped by the head man who would rather run the ball on 3rd and 8 than attack anyone.

Maybe the plane has some parachutes for those who would like to "jump off".

I agree. There's nothing for him to do right now. If the season is a disaster, make a decision then. But, no change is going to be made before then, nor should it be.

Lets go and get Rich Rod, he'll come on the cheap. Get a good defensive co-ordinator.

 

Or even better lets go and grab Gus Malzahn. If he was able to run his own team the way he wants, people around the Bluegrass would envision the Couch era again with points being piled up, only I think the Cats would win more.
