Great win for the Birds.

Game was definitely won in the trenches and the conditioning factor of the Birds.

A few dropped balls that could have been caught by both.

Disagree that Pike only has Cohurn to throw to. Pitzer looked good, 3/4 catches, and took a wicked shot by Rouse and #16 had a nice catch in traffic as well.

Dixie needs to learn how to block and stay with their blocks longer.

 

Concern for the run defense by the Birds, but may have been due to the SCHEME they had for Pike. He got very little and the runs that worked were quick slants against the 3 man defense. LBs need to fill gaps quicker on reads, and not think pass so quickly.

 

All in all a good game and misstakes will be corrected. Now get ready for Western.

 

I have watched only part of the game so far. Is Pitzer #19? Glad to hear him getting reps.

How did Dixie look physically? Do you think the grueling game against Cov Cath last week, combined with a short week, hurt the red colonels chance?

 

Very possible given the less time to heal up from injuries combined with the heat. It didn't affect their chance of winning the game but it obviously affected their performance.

Who was #26 for Dixie? Kid is a gamer.

I've never understood the disdain personally for Tom that comes from many Highlands fans.

 

I don't know anyone (Highlands fan or otherwise) that distains Tom personally. Some Highlands fans may question his coaching style or decisions, but I've never heard a person say anything bad about him as a person. If anything, it's more of "he's a great guy, but ......" kind of stuff. Heck, for that matter I've read posts by DH fans questions his style and decisions. It may seem like Highlands fans do it more often on here, but that's probably a function of there being more Highlands fans on here than DH fans (or fans of any other program for that matter) when you think about it.

Don't know if it hurt at any appreciable level, but it certainly couldn't have helped.

I thought #33 who ran the ball in the 2nd half for them showed some promise and should be a good one next year. Of course I don't know his age but he was very fast and ran hard.

I think it is plain and simple, Dixie needs a whole new coaching staff. Outcoached every week so far. Pike is D1 talent, seems to be very immature. I saw a story about his tweets talking trash to Alabama fans already. Come on kid, we all want to see you do well, Dixie fans or not. Grow up a little, work hard and make NKY proud. You have the natural talent to do it. I also agree that if Pike was the QB for HHS, he would have looked just as good if not better than Towels last night. I watched the UK game on DVR late night and wow, the Cats are going to love having another HHS qb on their team. They really need it!! He will have a chance to touch the field next year for sure. Here is a question: how many points will Dale score on Pendleton?? I feel sorry for Pendleton, being moved to the same district as Cov Cath and HHS. What an awful move by the KHSAA there. Dale will put up 100, just because he can.

Come on KJ to say that Pike would look just as good as Towels or better is a little much. I dont disagree that Pike would look better but its obvious that Towels has better foot work, he is faster and his throws are right on. Towels is the better QB regardless what team they play on. Pike is a great athlete but UK is getting the better QB IMO.

Why do you think it's personal? I just don't think he's a very good head coach. I have nothing against the guy personally and know no one who does. Our paths have only vaguely crossed through the years, but everyone I know has nothing but good things to say about him.

Don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. When was the last time you think Dale tried to run up the score? You do realize the 2's were in half way through the third quarter last night, don't you? Why would he do something like that to Pendleton when he hasn't shown a desire to do it to others?
