I have a question about Collinsworth. I know he said he would coach until the end of the lockout, what are his current plans? Will he stick around since he's been coaching for the first two games or does time not permit him to do so?

 

From what I have heard he is still going to coach..He'll just miss a couple days a week..

I thought Dixie was going to be the 2nd or 3rd best team in NKy this year.. Boy was I wrong!! I guess there is not enough "talent" at Dixie to win? I feel really bad for Tom. For him to be at a 6a school and have no talent that has to be frustrating.. To be the head coach for 17yrs and have no talent year after year has to really wear on you..I don't know how he comes back year after year..It's a shame to have that beautiful facility and not have the talent to put on it..Is there anyone else that feels bad for Tom like I do???? I know JOAT and Stinky do..How many others???

 

The sarcasm and bolding within your post is awesome. Let me clarify just a bit. I don't know if I feel bad for Tom or am just confused by the continual beat down coach takes on this board. For several years this game was mandated for district play, it didn't need to occur this year. Dixie (and Tom) would have been better served by doing what most every other school in N Ky does and that is avoid the Bluebirds. Since they agree to the game, they subjected themselves to the lopsided score.

 

I could understand if the posters on the site from Dixie would be the ones questioning the coaching staff, and yes I know there are a few, but the majority of the outspoken negative comments come from HHS fans. Why the disdain? Please send me a PM and fill me in on why so many HHS fans care about the success or failure of the Dixie football program? Please send me a PM as to why so many HHS fans want to hate on a HHS grad that played and coached at the school?

 

I was at the game and as a HHS grad, parent, booster, etc. what I saw was one team that was significantly better than the other. There is not one position group at Dixie that was better than HHS. It starts up front where HHS dominated both lines of scrimmage. Patrick Towles is an exceptional high school quarterback. Given the time he had last night, he would torch any defense. The Dixie secondary had no chance. They were being forced to cover sideline to sideline for 50 yards. Kudos to the O-line for providing this huge advantage. Conversely, Zeke Pike had little to no time to throw the ball. Impossible for a quarterback at any level to succeed with D-lineman draped all over them. Dixie was limited to short outs and quick passes due to the dominance of the D-line. Add in the fact that HHS has D1 caliber talent in the defensive backfield, and now what's Dixie to do. Corners playing bump and run, safeties at 10-12 yards, knowing that Pike will not have the time to throw a deep ball. Kudos to the D-line for dictating the action.

 

I like to refer to the old saying " its not about the X's and O's, but more about the Jimmy's and Joe's" when I read all the coach bashing that goes on in these posts. Three weeks ago when HHS had a less than stellar effort at Trinity, no one was bashing Dale or the HHS staff. We all realized that Trinity is really, really good. We realized as supporters of the program that a few key pieces were mending and that the kids would learn from the experience. We didn't read posts from Trinity fans bashing our coach or players. I hope that Dixie fans take away from Thursday night's game, that HHS is really, really good also.

 

The season is not lost for the Colonels. There are no HHS caliber teams in 6A this year. Time to get healthy and right the ship.

I think it is plain and simple, Dixie needs a whole new coaching staff. Outcoached every week so far. Pike is D1 talent, seems to be very immature. I saw a story about his tweets talking trash to Alabama fans already. Come on kid, we all want to see you do well, Dixie fans or not. Grow up a little, work hard and make NKY proud. You have the natural talent to do it. I also agree that if Pike was the QB for HHS, he would have looked just as good if not better than Towels last night. I watched the UK game on DVR late night and wow, the Cats are going to love having another HHS qb on their team. They really need it!! He will have a chance to touch the field next year for sure. Here is a question: how many points will Dale score on Pendleton?? I feel sorry for Pendleton, being moved to the same district as Cov Cath and HHS. What an awful move by the KHSAA there. Dale will put up 100, just because he can.

 

 

Are you kidding me!? "just because he can" That statement is either an unsportsman-like, "hate speech"(for HHS), or shows some sort of cerebral deficiency. He, Dale, would love another team to replace this required game almost as much as Pendleton would love the chance to play another team they can be competitive with...

There is no disdain or "hate" being directed toward Tom and never has been. There is a lot of understandable criticism of his coaching decisions. Maybe, as one of our own, we would just wish he could do better.

I thought Sorrell was the D coordinator?

 

Spritzky took over the defense last year after he gave over the offensive reigns to Brossart. Sorrell is coaching special teams. I didn't think Sorrell would be back this year as he had retired as a teacher and was going to spend more time down in Florida.

 

I think one of the biggest mistakes Spritzky made over the years was letting Mark Pike walk. He had Pike on the staff, and I think Brilz who is now at Beechwood.
