I will make a prediction and say Simon Kenton finishes third in their district. After the first couple of weeks, I see N. Ky. 6A in this order: Ryle and Dixie battling for first, Simon Kenton, Boone, Campbell County.

The end of the first quarter wasn't pretty for us tonight. Attempting to let the quarter end while failing to realize they had to run a play. That penalty drops them back to 2nd and long, then Brilz made a great play for a DLinman, picking it off and setting Bwood up for their first score which he grabbed.

 

The pick by Brilz was big time. Stuck up one arm on a screen to Powell and snatched it out of thin air. Took what could have been a nice gain, and it coupled with his TD seemed to send SK reeling. From there the Neers looked almost lost the rest of the night...

Sitting here at Barlycorns with some CCH alums, they got a kick out this post too, lol

This game is exactly what I thought it would be, BW handily.

I forgot to add that Nussbaum lived up to his press clippings. You don't see too many kickers on that level, a true advantage for Beechwood when the opponent is starting at the 20 every possession. He was kicking 30 yard field goals prior to the game and they could have hit from 60.

Have I ever said I don't like SK? NOPE! I talked to several real SK fans tonight at the game, as well as others from SK! How is me saying for a couple of months that SK will win 3 MAYBE 4 regular season games and losing to Beechwood by 4 TD's (which I was dead on!) hating? I was correct so that is hating? I am 100% sure (at least I hope) you know why so many people picked Beechwood tonight!

 

Now, back to the game. It really wasn't bad to find a place to park, enough parking with all the lots nearby, and after the first game there were moe than enough seats for the Beechwood and SK fans! Great night for football!

How many Srs on the Beechwood team? The reason I ask is that SK really played some nice defense early then after the interception Beechwood seemed to really kick it into gear while SK seemed to reel. No one player really stood out to me, they were all really solid. What grade is their QB? I've always respected Beechwood especially going through HS when they were taking on all comers and winning most of those games with great team play. I'm not happy that they took it to us tonight not one bit. I expected more from my boys in blue but Beechwood is good enough to make a run in NKY 6A and for that I tip my cap. I was hoping that we would not take a step back after three great seasons but the fact of the matter is you can't rest on your laurels. I know Jeff and he will do what is necessary to right the ship but this loss was a true learning experience.

 

Bye week then Holmes which should be a get well game then on to NCC. That won't be easy but three weeks we should see a better team. Been through hell in the past and this isn't the time to panic. It's not about how many times you get knocked down boys it's about getting up one more time.

I think BW is primarily Sr laden for the most part. I know I saw that group as frosh beat the Birds in the Frosh Finals at Highlands. They had studs all over the field on both sides of the ball. Vocke is an absolute stud and a threat to score anywhere on the field.

So NOW, where should SK be ranked in 6A , if , not at all .

How many tackles did the Bowling kid for SK have last night? I know he had 19 in the Casey Co victory. I would imagine much less as the Beechwood players are much more elusive. However, the kid is a very hard nosed player and a good football player.

.....and as Guru says, "we can close the book on SK"..thankfully, for them, they make the playoffs automatically.
