July 20, 201115 yr This is just incredible. Fastballs right down the middle and they can't square it up. I really have no idea what anyone can do. The players have to get it figured out. And if they can't, then you have to find some different players.
July 20, 201115 yr Author The offense is fine, they've scored a bunch of runs this year. Pitching is the big problem not the offense.
July 20, 201115 yr The offense is fine, they've scored a bunch of runs this year. Pitching is the big problem not the offense. The offense has been horrible for over a month but the pitching has been well below average for the same span. The Reds are just a bad team right now, and they are likely done--even in the pitiful NL Central.

For me this all started when I said the offense is an issue and I would trade for Reyes rather than trading for a starting pitcher. I stand by that. The pitching solution was and still is what they have. The offense was dead in three spots. It probably still is three unless Cozart is going to keep producing. Some would say Stubbs makes it dead in four spots. They need a spark of some sort unless they're willing to waste one of three Voto seasons. I wouldn't waste any Votto season. All prospects to me would be available for three years for the right trade. They have had a monster bump in attendance lately and they are wasting a chance to keep that going through next year and beyond.
July 20, 201115 yr Well at least it should be a fun offensive show for me when the Braves come to town...I get to watch Jair Jurrjens on Friday and I am stoked!!!

They have had a monster bump in attendance lately and they are wasting a chance to keep that going through next year and beyond. They are only averaging 1800 more fans than last season. They are still only 16th in attendance--that doesn't seem like a monster bump. As for wasting one of Votto's season, well it is most likely too late for that. I know it seems like they are still in it because of the division but their postseason chances are very slim, even if they make a move.
July 20, 201115 yr The Reds are now officially "sellers". No reason to dump prospects at this stage. Just ride it out and see what happens. Hernandez will be attractive to teams, as could Cordero. Their best bet is to make a move in the off season.

The summer bump won't continue
July 20, 201115 yr Very big win for the Pirates and possibly an even bigger loss for the Reds. I think that it's officially fair to say that the Pirates won't finish in the cellar. I believe that Pittsburgh may very well be serious contenders for the division; things have been falling in the right places for them to say in the least.
July 20, 201115 yr I didn't mention all year attendance. It's been great lately. The summer bump won't continue At the end of the day a bump for 2 or 3 series won't make much of a difference. To greatly increase their ability to spend they have to increase overall attendance.
