July 19, 201115 yr I caution everyone with looking at these and any stats. As SSC has brought up numerous times on this topic. YTD stats are one thing but stats over the last month are another. I'll bet that if you look at only the last month when they are 9-16 that these numbers will be even worse over that period. Good point. Pretty much the same point I used to make during my Adam Dunn bashing phase. All everyone saw was 40/100/100. My point was that he had 3-4 week stretches (sometimes longer) where he was abysmal. Very few got it. As very few will get what you and SSC are pointing out. 3 or 4 weeks ago I would have been with the masses, but the last 30 games have been very telling. I'm not sure how anyone can ignore it now. And your point is what? One month of stats paints a truer picture of capabilities than 3 months? I am not sure what the takeaway is or what you are cautioning us about. :idunno:

I am not sure what the takeaway is or what you are cautioning us about. :idunno: The point is that if you tank for a whole month you can cost yourself a chance to be in the playoff race. At the end of the year you can look back and say, look at our stats, we're OK. Wonder why we miseed the playoffs? Well look at such and such month when you tanked and went 9-16.

July 20, 201115 yr Beimel didn't make one good pitch to Bruce and struck him out. All three strikes Bruce swung at were bad pitches that should have been driven somewhere and the best he could do was a foul dribbler past first base. Just terrible. I have noticed a lot of that lately. It isn't like the Reds' hitters aren't getting to good counts and getting pitches to hit. They just aren't hitting those pitches when they get them.
July 20, 201115 yr Stubbs comes through again with 2 outs and runners in scoring position. He has driven in one run in the last 30 days--it came on June 25th.
