Just enough where the difference between managers might be enough to swing the division?

Good grief.

Based purely on offense you may be right, I might give a small edge to the Brewers or Cards, but you also have to figure in the defense, and the amount of ground the defense can cover, and I think the Reds have a huge edge in that department, despite the lack of defense the Reds displayed last night.

I agree with that. Then we have to look at the pitching. IMO the Reds are competitive there.

Besides the Rolen issue and the huge hole created in the middle of the lineup by his ineffectiveness and injuries, I think the biggest thing for this team has been overall inconsistency. Some of that is due to injuries - Cueto, Bailey, Arroyo fighting mono. Most of it is due to the fact that this is still a young team and with young players you get inconsistent play. Look up and down the team on the hitting and pitching side and try to name one player besides Votto and Phillips that has performed consistently this season. These guys are all over the board - Leake, Wood, Chapman, Bailey, Volquez, Bruce, Stubbs - all young guys trying to find out who they are. This team just hasn't been able to find a core chemistry because you never know what is going to happen from inning to inning, let alone game to game.

Stubbs 8, Cairo 5, Votto 3, Phillips 4, Bruce 9, Heisey 7, Hanigan 2, Janish 6, Arroyo 1

Glad to see Frazier and Alonzo getting a chance to show what they can do. It's a good thing Jocketty was able to move Gomes so they could get a good look at Alonzo.

Yep. Who knows if Yonder is going to be a viable LF option next year. Walt and Dusty won't give him the opportunity.

Dusty just said Heisey will get the majority of time in LF....So why trade Gomes for a bunch of scrubs if you aren't going to put his roster spot to good use?

Knowing Dusty, we'll probably only get a chance to see him play once, maybe twice a week.

You know Dusty?

At least let him screw up before you bash him.

Yep, I know him like the back of my hand. How often do you think Dusty pencil Yonder in the lineup?

Depends on how he does.

No Alonzo tonight. I guess Dusty wants to give him a chance to watch from the bench for a few days. See what it's like to be in the majors.

Nope, Heisey is going to get the majority of the starts Dusty said.

I'm glad to see Heisey finally get a shot, but I agree, why bring Alonso up to sit the bench.

LRCW you no longer have an objective view and can't be taken seriously. Heisey gets his shot, that you wanted, produces with a 2-4 effort, and you want him to sit to play Alonso. THEN, you complain that Dusty isn't playing Alonso. You know he's not going to play CF or RF.

Like I said in the post right above your post I'm glad to see Heisey finally get a shot. Why bring up Alonso to sit the bench though? If they just wanted a bench player then why not Hermida?

That I can agree with. I wouldn't mind seeing Heisey get a shot and if he doesn't get it done, bring Alonso up and have him play every day.

Do you think Heisey might start getting some of Stubbs time in CF if Stubbs continues to strike out 4 times a game maybe?

Both of the other OF spots get so cold that Heisey could get a start or two a week in CF or LF.
