I'd agree with you guys...Joe isn't what we're looking for. I'm hoping my source (a co-worker who is in the same crowd of friends as Phil Castellini) may be wrong about that detail, at least.

I just don't understand letting Willis hit with a runner on when he's coming out anyway.

Why waste a pinch hitter? Willis can swing the bat.

They used Heisey anyway.

Yes he can but he is not as good as somebody on the bench.

I'm not so sure about that. There were 2 out, and a runner on 1st. If the game were tied, or the Reds losing I can understand. I have no problem with Dusty letting Willis hit in that situation. If the game goes extra innings, Dusty will have an extra guy on the bench.

No he won't. He burned Heisey anyway to play defense. He wasn't thinking about saving a bat for later. He just thought Willis was the best option.

Yeah I don't understand the defensive replacement at all unless Lewis is hurt or something.

The pitcher hit for himself in the 6th inning of a 1 run game and now they've used 4 subs in 9 batters.

Even if your original thought was the right move ( I would have hit for him ) he didn't do it to save the bench. No matter what I'm baffled at the decisions.

I don't understand the Heisey for Lewis move at all. Lewis has to be hurt. It simply makes no sense otherwise.

He doesn't have to be hurt. It could just be Dusty being Dusty.

Okay here comes the squeeze. Just don't wait until there's 2 strikes.

Please no squeeze.

Not Dusty's fault, but why send the runner there. He had no chance. I would have taken my chances with Rentaria.

I have a feeling we'll see bad Chapman here.
