August 1, 201115 yr Author So what does Alonso have to do to get playing time? Get traded, or hope the Reds get a new manager. The Reds scouts, and Louisville manager Rick Sweet have all stated that Yonder has done a pretty good job in LF, that he has made a lot of progress. Dusty won't take their word for it though. He stated that "He hasn't seen it with his own eyes yet." I guess he'll never get a chance to see it with his own eyes as long as he gets only 1 AB a game.
August 1, 201115 yr Author When your team needs something to win a title, some times you have to do things a little differently to try and win. The Reds have no left handed pinch hitter when Lewis starts. The best, and maybe only, place Alonso can help this team right now is coming off the bench late. Really makes me wonder why Sparky started Tony Perez over Bob Bailey at 1st base in 1976. Perez would have really helped the team coming of the bench late as a pinch hitter.

Yonder Alonso = Tony Perez. Senility is setting in. I don't have a problem giving Alonso a shot. Just makes me wonder how bad he really is out there. Hell, we sat through Dunn and Gomes for years and years.

Hell, we sat through Dunn and Gomes for years and years. You really struggle seeing things sometimes don't you. You play your best players. It's as simple as that. It makes no sense to think you're better off having a guy coming off the bench for 1 AB when you can get him 4 AB's a game.
