The Official Fire Dusty Thread.

You said it would only happen if they had a horrible season or two. You were proven wrong, and now your backpedaling quicker than somebody trying to guard John Wall on the fast break. WEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What on earth are you talking about? Proven wrong? Three managers in 30+ years? Backpedaling? Um, I've never wavered. I thought it was comical that your example of how you think the Reds can win and still get Dusty fired has happened 3 times since I've been alive. Not sure what you're reading.

He has 1,400 more wins than anyone on here, but what does he know?

There's one thing to say he needs to be the fall guy but it's completely different to say he doesn't have a clue what he's doing while he's managed many successful teams. I mean, he's top 25 in all-time wins as a manager.

OK, so maybe we exaggerate a bit when we say he has no clue, but whether you'll ever admit it or not, he's probably had you scratching your head more than any Reds manager in recent history, including Dave Miley and Bob Boone.

You said he would only be fired if he had two horrible seasons. We gave examples where that's not the case. Who cares how often it's happened. The fact is it has happened before.

I will throw in my 2 cents here. I don't care what happens this year he is not getting fired. They are paying him to much money to sit on his couch in June and July collecting a pay check and not managing this club. Simple as that.

HT, I hate to tell you, but June is come and gone, and July is just about over too.

So has a team coming back from 4.5 games down in July but that doesn't change your guys outlook.

And I'll root like crazy for the Reds to do that. It still doesn't change the fact that I don't like Dusty as the Reds manager.

So is Gene Mauch, who has a losing record. He and Dusty do have one thing in common--a donut in World Series won.

Obviously they were both good managers for people continuing to hire them. Saying a manager isn't any good because he hasn't won a WS is as silly as saying a guy can't be one of the greatest ever because he doesn't have a championship...absurd and lack of understanding team sports.

How deep is the list of guys you'd like to see manage this team? 3?

I'm done arguing for the night. I'll throw out this offer to GT and Crash. If the Reds come back, and win the NL Central, I'll never, ever criticize Dusty again, and I'll spring for Stadium Club seats to a game next season wearing a shirt that says "I'm dumber than gametime and Crash Davis"

If the Reds finish below the Pirates, the two of you spring for Stadium Club seats for spindoc and myself wearing shirts that say "We're dumber than LRCW".

I could come up with 3 that I would prefer over Dusty, but my #1 choice would probably surprise you.

I don't think I could fit into a uniform. Yes, this guy has ML managing experience.
