Collinsworth Starts His Coaching Gig

Featured Replies

Okay, so the NFL is back and going to play. Is Cris not coaching now, or does it just cut into the amount of time he can spend coaching? Anybody got the scoop?

I believe he will still be able to coach on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

I am going to crack up when quits because he is to busy with the NFL! :D

I love the people on here (sarcasm)! They are goofy. Some of you can't just say "hey that's cool" like TD or Leatherneck. No you have to pick it apart and find some reason this is BAD for the birds. Let me say this for all the birds fans to hear. Most of us want nothing more than to see that streak stop at 4! We all want our team to be the one that ends it! However I cannot understand the haters on here that won't give credit where it is due! You got CC to volunteer to coach recievers at your school!!!! That is AWESOME!!! That is what loyalty to a program is all about. His kids play there and he is loyal to your incredibly succesful and classy program. Your coaching staff not only brings a great team to the field every week but they bring one of the most respected traditions and most well behaved groups of student athletes. Your program is one of the elite in the country and you should be proud of it. With that being said I will hopefully be sitting in your stands this year when Johnson Central finally beats you. If they don't then I hope someone does, because I have to respect you, but i don't have to cheer for you.:D Congratulations on whatever amount of time CC can help coach your recievers...

Great Post! :thumb:

Very well said, Jude! And, I'm sure, much appreciated by the other Bird faithful as well. :thumb:

I hope all the Highlands players eat that up and enjoy every moment of it. There is no doubt they are blessed to have such an oppurtunity. Could you imagine your son or daughter going to ball practice and getting instruction from an accomplished pro athlete? People would pay for that kind of experience. In fact, I think I would want to go to practice to. I do think it's awesome and I hope Mr. Collinsworth has a blast giving back to a new generation what was given to him years ago. I have never been a Highlands fan, but as an adult I have learned how to be happy for others when something really cool comes there way.

Even if he is not there but one day what a good chance for the kids in Fort Thomas!

What cracks me up is that this reminds me of the football quote that "all of the best coaches are in the stands".

Don't hold your breath waiting to crack up. Being pretty familiar with Cris's schedule, I'm pretty confident in what I posted. A whole lot of his preparation for NFL games is done at his home, which preparation he can do around the hours of high school football practice after school. Technology can be a wonderful thing and in this instance most definitely is wonderful. Further, when he signed his recent contract, it contained provisions that would permit him to watch Jac play for Highlands and Austin play for ND. Rather than being in the stands on Friday nights watching, he'll be on the field coaching.

And I'd be wrong for not thanking Jude for the very complimentary things said about the Highlands program and more importantly the conduct of the Highlands players.

I know Collingsworth,(spelling) is a bird fan, but it would have been nice for him to travel around Kentucky and offer to speak and help for a day, he obviously does not need the money and could really make some days around the area.

Lawnboy what are you thinking about, do you think kids go there just for Football. question if Dale invited two kids not from FT. into the locker room would that upset you.

Sorry Whacky, I am with The Ball Game. You are already assuming Highlands is on the "lookout" for athletes which is absolutely ridiculous to suggest. Highlands is 95% HomeBred no pun intended and doesnt need CC to draw athletes. The program does that as we all know and we also know the 5% or so kids that do come to Ft Thomas is coming for the academics and not the Football.

I disagree..The 5% is strickly coming for football and if you believe otherwise, you're either naive or in denial...It's also closer to 15-20% of the roster living outside the Highlands school district, or at least it was a couple of years ago.....

There is 5% using a FT address.
