Collinsworth Starts His Coaching Gig

Featured Replies

On a side note. I talked to Cris one day about his playing days and he shed some light on some things that were very interesting. He told me that when he played for the Bengals he absolutely loved Kenny Anderson as a QB. He said that every ball that KA threw had a message attached, low and behind him - catch it and get down - your going to get hit, ball with zip out front meant - catch and you have about 2 seconds to get your head around, ball thrown out front on the finger tips was go get it and score. Now, when he played with Esaision, everything was ball thrown out front on the finger tips with Ronnie Lott closing in for a wreck.

I say this because these are the types of things that NFL Pro Bowlers bring to table to young kids that the general public has no clue is going on during the Sunday games. So the next time you see Tom Brady or one of the Manning bros throw one behind their reciever during game, its not because it was a bad pass, it was a great pass and saved a reciever his head or ribs. This is stuff that Jared is teaching PT at Highlands and I know CC brings this to table with him as well. Good Stuff imo, I know I would have loved to have had these types of guys coaching me in HS. Heck, I had to deal with Roger Walz, Alllllllllllllright!!!!!!!!!!!!!, Gezzzz

Maybe to you and many Ft Thomas folks but not to the outside world. I had 3 people in my office today who have kids that go to OHIO schools mention the article and say...."Wow, what a great staff, how could you not want to send your kid there". It is what it is brother....I don't think he decided to be the ambassador for the program but you cant deny it isn't a great PR move to have two former Super Bowl players on the staff.

I'm assuming they were referring to you. As you already do for your kids, so they agreed. There is no way a family is moving their kid/s to a little KY school from a Ohio school just because of CC. Just stop it right there. HAHAHA!!! Kinda like the way people are saying about the new CCH BB coach. Aint happening! And for Whackem to say, lets see, how did he refer to it, "draw in more athletes to the program" , c'mon, good try. Whackem has been hiding in the bushes just waiting to pounce and here it is.

Now I will agree with how Dale wants to be a "National Powerhouse" and on the National scene, but IMO he asked CC to help strickly to get his players better to reach that goal. Not to "draw in more athletes to the program". Just my opinion.

Cris will be a positve factor for sure like Sweep and tdyballgame said. I do think there will be more college scouts in attendance, to the fact of knowing that coach Collinsworth is working with some excellent recievers, who have shown their great talent before CC was included in the coaching staff.

The old saying goes, "if it ain't broke don't fix it. " Well, at HHS it hasn't been broke for a long time, and we are talking decades! So with that said, there is no reason not to try to get more production with the players you have already. And that is the valuable knowledge that Cris can share with these HS recievers. If Jac was playing for a different school, Cris would be coaching at that school instead, for obvious reasons.

I certainly dont think CC or Dale are conspiring to make the program "better looking" so dont confuse that with the fact that it simply will be more attractive. I have sat with CC at many a basketball games over the past 5 yrs as our sons played together. I know his MO and its clearly about the kids having fun. Period. If a kid cant truly enjoy himself out there then whats the point. it was always a refreshing take and quite frankly it hit home with me several times when I may have took a game more seriously than I should have.

Sweep that convo about KA and Boomer is priceless. He has shared some funny NFL stories with me as well and the wealth of experience he can share with those kids is invaluable. Hes definitely good people and all you gotta do is meet his father to realize why, another great dude.

I think this is cool!

That sums it up nicely. I agree.:thumb:

This is good for CC and Great for the kids.

Is it just me or when you see the letters "CC" do you not think Cov Cath?:lol::lol:

Funny that "Little TD" still doesn't know who Cris is?!:lol::lol:

Ditto.

I hear that pretty frequently from folks outside of the Cov Cath community. If you are part of the community, though, it's one of three choices: Covington Catholic, Cov Cath, or CCH.

I always think Campbell County. Cov Cath always requires the H in my mind.

Same here.

I too also add the H or another choice word depending the outcome of the rivalry. Since this is a football forum, I am all smiles as of late. lol:D

I think having Collinsworth on board is a great PR move that Dale is using to draw in more athletes to the program. And we all know that w/o the athletes' date=' you have no program. If I were running the show, I'd be scooping up as many high profile former NFL'rs as I could. Collinsworth is happy to oblige the Highlands Bluebirds.[/quote']

Would that be more athletes from Ft. Thomas or the out of district "wink, wink" athletes????????
