Isn't it a little strange that Trinity and St. X are separated by a mere 8 miles, yet one represents the east and one represents the west? That can't be political, huh?

I'm going to say on thing about coaching and then shut up (at least for a second )

 

I don't think that anyone that saw the Trinity/Henry Clay game will dispute that Henry Clay had more pure athletic talent then Trinity did. What was the difference in that ball game?

 

IMVHO it was the discipline that the coaching staff at Trinity demand and the willingness to back those demands up in terms of playing time. Put Trinity's coaches with Henry Clay's players and that game isn't close in the other direction.

Lifting- go to any other school in June and see how many kids are lifting

Coaching and coaches with passion for their school ESPECIALLY Glaser

One thing it is not, Athletes- running jumping and speed are not our strengths

CSAA and feeder system, Bullitt East coach has been credited with working their's hard

sure #'s help but are not the only difference

1)Might have something to do with double the number of male students in the school compared to other 4A schools.

2)I don't buy the fact that they work harder. I've seen plenty of kids that work hard that don't go to a state championship every year.

3)Population of Louisville has something to do with it.

4)They have good coaches but when you have talent like X & T have you are going to look like a good coach whether you are or not.

5)Facilities don't win games so I'm not going to say that has anything to do with it. (Although facilities do attract top notch athletes to want to play there)

6)I think the faith based schools for the most part have a very tight bond with each other. But I've seen many public schools that have had kids that played together since they were about 9 years old and that didn't automatically put them in a state championship.!

1. Only 11 can play at a time...there is actually a penalty for 12 or more. If this point was valid then X and Trinity would be dominating basketball...they are not. X and T have not been to the finals in many, many years!

2.Working harder...can't say..do not know what other programs do....do know that these guys do work hard in off-season as well.

4. Excellent coaches that not only teach football, but teach life and get involved in these kids lives as well. That is one of the reasons for the large numbers..everyone wants to play for these coaches...also asst. coaches are top notch also...heck the freshman team's Lineman coach is NFL All Pro Lineman Will Woolford. Hard to beat that.

5.Only facility draw at X is the largest high school weight room in the state. ...for all that hard work from # 2.

6. Very tight bond......beyond playing together...pray together...and are family together .Ex-tiger Will Woolford is a volunteer! Glaser and the majority of the staff are all graduates. This bond might explain 38,500 fans at a regular season high school football game. In the top nationally!

The rest of the state had that done over 10 years ago. It is kind of like the Prop 20 thng now. They thought they could get X and Trinity out of it by seperating them and making one travel every year. Sorry not so fast.

The point is very valid. Football is more dependent on numbers than basketball ... there is no comparison between the two sports.

Except that in basketball, X and T have 1400 boys to choose from for their teams, and still can't win the state!

Many of you already have a built in bias,dislike or excuse. Unless you wore Green and White, or Green and Gold..you will never get it...excuse me, except for RockMom! Now for the question of why are T and X so good...not in any order

2. School pride

3. Faith

4. Family

5. Coaching

6. Alumni who actually come to the games..It amazing how some very old schools in Louisville have almost no support.

7. Last but not least, young men who want to be at that school. These young men have dreamed about playing for T and X since they came out of the womb. For most of you this is very hard to understand.

4) Numbers in practice and extended seasons every year to practice 5 weeks longer than some teams.

6) Community of Believers in the same goals in life.

8) Dedication to a cause

9) Tradition that runs generations deep and is instilled in the kids from day one of life.

10) Facilities are good.
