Just curious, have you both seen Dixie and Lex Cath play? Just wondering why you pick such a big win for LC??

No way Lexcath beats Dixie by 15 or 20+.

 

This game will be within 10.

I have seen both play and the LexCath "D" is one of the best in the State and their press is a thing of beauty. They have been to Rupp and that's a huge advantage with all the excitement, hoopla and press running around the players.

 

I would love to see Dixie win, but this LexCath team has a real shot at winning the Sweet Sixteen and maybe, if this were the second or even the third game of the Sweet Sixteen then it might be a different story but Dixie at this point is just happy to be there while LexCath is on a mission to win it all.

 

LexCath by a least 12 or maybe more and I honestly hope I am wrong! Go Red Colonels!!!

This would be a huge upset but not impossible. All it takes is a cold shooting night from LC. If Dixie were to win, it would be on a last second shot. LC is capable of winning big. If both teams play well, LC advances. Good luck to the Red Colonels - go create some March Madness and play like your playing in the elementary school gym.

wow? really? is Lex cath that good? I find it hard to believe that there are 2 guards that much better than Trammel and Hatton? I think it will be closer than you think. as Lee Corso would say..."Not so fast my friend"

That vending machine idea has turned out to be a pretty good one.

IMO, there are a few things that Coach Chevy and Dixie definitely have to do in order to stay in the game; Beckham is a left handed dribbler and Dixie has to make him go to his right at all times. Watched him play against Scott Co the other night and he has no right handed dribble and he's out of control when he drives to the right side. The other key is to contain Martin to a half court offense. If he's bringing the ball up the court, there is nobody in KY HS hoops that sees the floor better than Martin. If he's got his momentum going at half court, he'll bust by most defenders and doesn't have any problem creating a shot or dishing it to an open player. No bones about it, I'm not a fan of Lex Catholic at all but, I have enjoyed watching Martin play ever since he was a freshman. He is a classy kid and I wish him the best while playing baseball at UK. Obviously there's more to do than just containing these players. All of the Dixie players will need to have their biggest games of the year and its a must that Dixie wins the rebounding war. I'm cheering for Dixie in this one but, think LC will win by 9 - 14 points. LC will have a nice run in the tournament and they have a good chance at winning the State Championship. Go Colonels!

What does Lex Cath's lineup look like ... size and class year? Also, how about depth for Lex Cath?

I know point guard is 6"0" and they start 2 6'4" forwards. i do not think they are really tall

I'm extremely surprised some of you are picking LC by so much.

 

Dixie is a very good team whose guards will pose a problem to the LC guards. Their big men, Pike and Stansberry are versatile enough to handle the LC press. And Dixie has a lot of depth with Evans, Muntis, Cohorn, and even Bruns off the bench.

 

If I remember correctly, a lot were picking LC big over Holmes in the 08 state tourney...we all remember how that one turned out.

 

Go make history Colonels and silence all the doubters.

Dribbledrive11 is absolutly correct! He nailed it right on the head.I have watched Catholic play all year.If you want to beat Catholic do 2 things. First of all beat the press by passing and not dribbling. Salsman will not take it of no matter how many layups you shoot. If you dribble against it ,Martin will anticipate (Best I have ever seen in H.S,) 3 out of 4 passs and he will kill you with steals. Again beat the press by passing the ball and keep it in the middle of the floor. Secondly give Beckham a clear path to the basket with his right hand and he will take it everytime like going over right tackle. One other must do is to keep the ball from Martin I would chase him the minute he comes across mid court and deny him all night. Keep a body on him when he is two passes away and make sure you block him out because he will kill you on the boards on both ends. If you havnt seen him play you should he is the smartest player you will ever see on a H.S. court. This Cath team if Martin is contained will have to win by shooting 3 pointers. I myself will take that every night going in against any H.S. team.
