Boys 9th Region Draw

Featured Replies

No easy draw for anyone in the 9th region. In past years you could look at the bracket and say which team might have a little easier road. This year no easy road for anybody. I believe there are 6 teams that could win and it not be that much of a surprise.

Newcath has an extremely easy first round match up with St. Henry.

Outside of that game, everyone has a tough first round match up.

Newcath v Ryle/Covcath and Holmes/Boone v Dixie are going to be some great semi final match ups.

Keep counting those chickens Walter. Lol

Outside of Geisler drilling three wide open Treys last night and a couple 12 footers the Birds shut him down. If the Birds can defend Hatton and Trammel they can squeak by.

You know from talking to me that I'm pulling for the Birds, Q.

I just think Dixie is playing extremely well right now.

Yes, I bet you would like to see Dixie eliminated in that bracket!

Ryle

vs.

CovCath

New Cath

vs.

St. Henry

Dixie

vs.

HHS

Holmes

vs.

Boone County

I see the semi-finals as this:

CovCath vs. NewCath

Holmes vs. Dixie

The past two years Holmes is 0-2 at Boone...3-0 at a neutral court or at home.

I like the Dogs chances, but not by much. Extremely tough game because of Brown, Crabtree, and McQueary size.

I agree that this is a tough matchup for Holmes. I am sure Boone got who they wanted out of the 3 district winners. Holmes got the one team they didn't want out of the 3 district losers. Boone's size versus Holmes' leapers. Who will win the rebounding battle? Can Boone handle Holmes pressure? Can Boone control the game's tempo? Those are the key questions in this matchup.

I like that Dixie and New Cath are in opposite brackets. They have been the top two teams in the region this season so they should be in opposite brackets. The draw almost played out as if the teams were seeded. Dixie (1) and Holmes (4) on one side and New Cath (2) versus Ryle (3) on the other side. Boone (5) plays the (4). Switch St. Henry with Highlands and you have what the tournament could arguably look like if it were seeded. Of course, upsets can happen but the stage is set for a great ninth region tournament.

33rd draws the 35th and the 36th draws 34th. This is actually the same draw as the girls. Did they just do one draw or did they do two separate draws???

Holmes already beat Dixie. I'm more worried about Boone and a potential match up with either Newcath or Ryle in the finals.

Come on Walter...one win doesn't mean that much at this point. Are you saying Holmes would rather face Boone, New Cath or Ryle over Dixie? I don't think so. Not because of one win during the season.

Always a separate draw...just the way it worked out

Holmes matches up with Dixie better than Newcath, Boone, and Ryle.

All three of those teams have a dominant big man, which Dixie doesn't. I guess I'm a little more optimistic about a rematch with Dixie vs the other three.

Pretty balanced bracket.

There really are no crib shots for anyone other than probably NCC. But lest we forget, Villa about took down a heavily favored St. Henry a few years back in the first round. St. Henry has improved but NCC should be able to take care of business.

Not sure who I like in these games.

I still think Dixie should be the favorite because they probably have the best scoring starting five of anyone in the field.

I really don't think previous matchups during the season play any real role especially being played at the BOK.

Highlands could play the role of a spoiler, because they are practically back to full strength and they have the wily vet on the sideline in Mike Flynn.

I doubt the lower bowl fills up for any of these games with maybe the exception of the finals.

It is a shame but the region is making more money from these games whether or not it is full, than they would be at a high school venue.

That's what Lloyd thought too!

Lloyd is no where near the team that Newcath is.
