Boys 9th Region Draw

Featured Replies

Spoke to Mr. Madrick prior to and after the CovCath vs. Cov Holmes game and yes he will be the man in charge this year also at the BOKC. Outstanding gentlemen and he along with official scorekeeper Mr. Jack Kaelin who is a score keeping legend, make an outstanding duo to see that this event runs smoothly.

The 8th Region Stripes will officiate both the girls and boys games, and the cost this year is $8.00 per session and it will cost $3.00 to park (thank NKU for that one and not the 9th Region). However the students can buy tickets at their school for only $6.00. Not sure if adults can buy them at the schools but???

This is terrible news for the tournament.

What's the knock on 8th region officiating? Not too familiar with them.

Thanks for the clarification on the Ron Madrick. Great guy and runs a great tourney.

In my opinion, the top few refs in the 8th are very good; better than the top officals from the 9th. The crew that did the WV/SK Boys game the other night did a fine job; competitive game but you never noticed they were there. Problem is, once you get below the top few, it falls off pretty drastically eg., one of the refs doing the SK/WV girls game the other night shouldn't have been doing a game on that level. Brian Sandlin and Terry Coldiron are the two best IMO.

Would put O'Hara and Pouncy on the State Championship game, top notch imo. 9th Region teams and fans will just see a much different style of officiating than they are used to seeing. I believe Pouncy did call the Championship game last year.

The 8th Region is no different than any other region. All regions have their "top dogs" and then there's alot of other fine officials.

I agree they did a very good job. One of the few games I watched all season that actually didn't lack flow due to an abundance of calls.

These two are definitely very good BUT once you get past that......well.

I can think of 6 pretty good ones in the 8th with most of them doing NAIA/NCAA3 games; as long as they send them to the BOKC; things will be fine.

Well this isn't good news for the 10th region this year.

Just give them some of that popcorn and you will be fine in the 10th. I think the 9th Region officials are solid.

Just to clarify...Teams are not given a chance to hold practice or shoot arounds at Kentucky Bank Arena. In my opinion this is a bad move by the host. These kids have worked all season to get where they are and to not have a chance to practice or shoot around before these big games is a big disadvantage to the kids. The Arena seating is someting new for most of these kids. It can be a very tough adjustment to shoot in this atmosphere. Kids deserve a chance to shoot around and get used to this before walking on to floor for the biggest game of there career.

Has anyone heard anything regarding broadcasting rules? I heard a rumor. Is this the ghost of 2009 rearing it's ugly head?

As one who will not be able to attend I fully expect to be hearing your melodious tones online LIVE.

I may be way off here, but someone says their AD said they may not be allowed to broadcast. There could be many reasons, but I just wanted to make sure there were no issues.
