Walton Verona 56 Simon Kenton 50

I believe Schmitt scored five straight points during a period when SK had a seven point lead, he made a few key shots to propel WV, then Hargett took the game over. I had no idea WV hadn't won a district championship since the '50s, hangovers a plenty in WV tomorrow.

Why does everybody let Steiner off so easliy? Year in and out he has the best talent across the board and he can't beat a small a compared to 6A football school! What is the reason that Steiner has lasted so long at Sk? B/c he makes it to region every year, that's a great job considering your beating two small A schools in a 4 team district. If he coached in the 9th or 10th region he'd be on the hot seat just like coach Hicks from Conner.

Hmmm, So you are saying it's horrible that a larger school loses to a smaller school? Are you saying WV isn't a good team? Isn't coached well? SK defeated WV twice this year, it does get a bit difficult to beat a team three times in a year, especially when those first two games were very close games! Smaller schools beat bigger teams all the time, in all sports!

WV won tonight, BIG DEAL! Both teams are in the regional's! If you follow SK, which you do not, maybe you would know they are just coming off a series of injuries, they haven't been in sync much lately. Have you been to many SK games? Do you know the plays they are trying to run? From your previous posts I don't think you do. A coach can have a great game plan, but he and his assistants can't go out and run the plays for the players, THEY need to step up and play well, maybe other coaches at other schools are not utilizing their personnel the way they should.

So, SK posters have complimented WV on the win and impressed with their players such as McNeil (tourney MVP) and Hargott, and that is a bad thing?

I think the people at SK can handle what goes on there, maybe others should worry about other schools, such as Gallatin. :sssh:

It was another sluggfest last night at SK. It looked like SK ran out of gas down the stretch. Both teams played extremely hard in this physical game. It was a great crowd, the stundent sections were great, and coach Trame's bow tie was pretty funny. Coach Trame has done a great job with the Walton boys team. He did a great job at SK back in the day. Good news is that both teams will get to move on to the region tournament.

Nothing to worry about down here in Warsaw.

I'm not part of the Wildcat faithful, but I agree with you entirely. Unless consistently having winning seasons, 8th Region All "A" championships, 31st District championships and trips to the 8th region semi-finals and finals (and being one of the smallest schools in the region) are bad things, then there is nothing to worry about in Warsaw.

Congrats to Coach Trame and the Bearcat players. Good luck in the 8th region tourney.

Let me add my congratulations to the Bearcats, also. I'm particularly happy for my pal, onecat. :thumb:

Congratulations Bearcats -- you guys are awesome!

Good luck in the regionals. :thumb:

I think your are being a bit harsh on Laker 22, small schools are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to big schools. Big schools have a much bigger population to draw from when putting together their team. This alone is a huge advantage. I think Coach Stiener does a fine job but to say it is no big deal, I think you should ask WV's coaches and SK's coaches if it is a big deal. One is extremely happy today and the other is the exact opposite. The other things you listed in your post are copouts, Walton has had troubles this year also but they still won. Year in and out the Walton Veronas, Owen Counties, and Gallatin Counties should have a hard time competing with the so called big boys and yet there they are beating them. This said do I think Stiener should be fired, no I don't but on the other hand don't say it is no big deal when the little guys pull off a big win.

Injuries have taken a toll on SK this year.

Steiner is a terrific coach and the future looks pretty solid.

How about giving WV some credit, they are a pretty solid team.

Walton deserves all of the credit, but point taken about the small school mystique. Their was a laugh fest thread on the SK district win vs. a down Williamstown... Looks like a very good Walton team and a little KarmA comes back to get the Neers.

It's no big deal as SK as well as other district runner-up's are not done for the year, the next 6 words after those you highlighted simply explains that. :thumb:

Also, go back and read any of my posts, I am TRUTHFUL! No copouts at all! Not a single person from SK (By the way im not from there) said anything negative about WV! And have complimented WV as well! :thumb:

Then again you mention the "big deal" thing! Was it a big win for WV? Yes! First time in over 50 years they won a district, They came close to beating SK twice this year and ended losing but this time they pulled off the win! WV playing close to SK should speak about the the talent and coaching at WV, not the lack of either or both as SK! Again, the six words after those you highlighted explains what I meant, but you found a way to ignore those words

What if Beechwood would have pulled off the win Vs Holmes? From what I heard they were a couple of late questionable calls away from it! Would people be calling for the coaches head? Would people be saying there is no way Beechwood should even play close to them? It would have been a big deal for Beechwood to get over the hump and beat a top team, unlike the SK/WV game this also would have been a big deal for Holmes too, as it would have ended their season!

I am sure people at SK are also happy for coach Trame, and hope that WV gets to the regional finals, if they face SK that will be even better!

BTW, I just find it funny that the person who was question the coaching and why they are still there is from another team in the 8th region, they should worry about and cheer for their program and not find ways/reasons to trash someone else.:thumb::cool:
