Walton Verona 52 Simon Kenton 48

Congratulations to Walton on a hard fought win. This was one of those games you hated to see anyone lose. Good thing is both teams move on. We had no answer for Dixon, she single handedly carried the Bearcats to victory and was well deserving of tournament MVP. I hated to see Abby get hurt late in the game, and Hanna foul out late for SK. I must say those were two huge foul shots to tie the game with no time left on the clock by Katey Slavey at the end of the first overtime. Needless to say coach Stowers will not be adding coach Miller to his Christmas card list anytime soon. Good luck to both teams in the region. Again a great game and the fans got their money worth.

Slavey fouled at the 1st OT buzzer made two foul shots to get to the second OT. Wow, tough shots to make.

She made those two free throws like they were nothing. With the crowd going nuts she shot them as if she could have done it with her eyes closed.

Unbelievable - again!!! WALTON-VERONA MUST BE THE WORST COACHING JOB IN THE STATE OF KENTUCKY -- BECAUSE OF THE CONSTANT NEGATIVITY AND SECOND GUESSING THAT THIS POST REPRESENTS! For crying out loud, this team - and its coaches - have just cut down the nets, on the road, against their nemisis! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT???

Great job by the Lady Bearcat players and Coach Miller and staff! Congratulations and enjoy the moment -- if the negative adults and/or fans will let you!

I know that motion offense and dribble drive are the in thing now, but with 2 girls over 6' and noone on the other team remotely close to that size, why not just play a simple high and low post pound the ball inside and then kick it back out to the shooters when they collapse? Appeared to me like Walton was playing exactly how SK would want them to.

Congrats Lady Bearcats and Coach Miller.

A couple of more

Dixon pulled this pass down in the first half. SK's press kept the inside game in the second more in check.

Owings turned an ankle but returned to the floor later.

Some thought the game was exciting; while others close to the action did not?

Again, Stephenson was huge down the stretch; her fifth foul was tough.

If the Mods could have a sticky thread that has the Panda Shooting Schedule, I could join you!

I thought SK had it wrapped up in the first OT but the charity stripe wasn't kind. Great game. Walton led from start until Stephenson tied the game with less than20 seconds. Walton did a great job of getting ball inside in the first half but didn't do as good of a job in the second half as SK's defense made it tough for WV to run their half court offense. SK shooting was dismal; not sure about for the game but they were like 1 for 10 from the three in the first. The SK press kept them in the game and got them the OT lead. Congrats and good luck to both teams. Great show and great effort. Lots of 8th region coaches in the stands to take this one in. WV had a great crowd at SK.

Dixon strong for 2.

Stephenson fouling out was a blow to SK as she led them to OT and helped SK take a lead. Tying bucket here.

What a great picture of the young lady shooting the FTs. I hope she gets a copy of it. Captured the entire feeling/drama/stress/etc in one picture. Well done.

Seems like the Walton people give coach Miller a pretty tough way to go. I really don't understand why people are so quick to cut him down. He has taken the program to a very high level. Walton has beat SK to win the district two years in a row. Walton has won probably 20+ games two years in a row. There probably has not been a coach there ever more successful. I don't remember the last time Walton girls have been this good. Maybe the Walton fans don't remember the old days when Luebbe and Rosen coached teams would get beat by SK by 40 and never win district tournaments. I hope Walton people don't want more of those unsuccessful years. Appreciate what you have, most teams would love to be in your shoes. Enjoy it.

Just to clarify and get the record straight. Walton had several good teams when Luebbe coached them. In 2000 they were 23-7, 8th Region All A Champs, All A State Semi-Finalist, District Runner-up to Scott County who lost in regional final game and beat SK 48-36. In 2001 they were 17-11, district runner-up to Scott County who was regional champ and beat SK 69-38. In 2002 they beat SK 75-35 and lost to Scott Co. in the district. In 2003 they were 21-8 and beat SK 44-34. Looks like there was some successful teams when Luebbe coached and they dominated SK for four years. All I'm saying is that Walton has been successful in the past so don't discredit those accomplishments.

Looks like madman did his homework.

47 wins in two years, and a winning percentage of over .700 in his three-year tenure at W-V is enough evidence for me. From this outsider's perspective, he's doing a darn good job.
