A lot of schools work hard, but only one has the largest male enrollment in the state and pays for top athletes in the county and nearby state to attend their school. Who do you people think you are kidding? With that being said, Trinity does what they are supposed to do given their resources - WIN! I applaud them for that, but I don't knock any school with half the male enrollment and way less than half the number of players for not playing them.

Is Trinity moving to become "bigger than Kentucky" when it comes to prep football? What I mean by this is:

 

Since the current head coach has arrived at Trinity, the Shamrocks have dominated large-class football in Kentucky. Not only has Trinity exerted its dominance within the state, winning nearly all of the large-class state football titles, but the program has also begun to consistently take on top competition from outside the state, playing (and beating) some outstanding programs from TN and OH. Look at this year's schedule:

 

Preseason scrimmage against Highlands, and regular season games against Nashville Brentwood Academy, Nashville Montgomery Bell Academy, Cincinnati St. Xavier, Cincinnati Elder, Indianapolis Cathedral, Louisville St. Xavier (district), Louisville Male (district), Louisville Manual (district), Cincinnati Moeller and one more game TBD.

 

As it stands right now, the only scheduled regular season games against KY teams are the three required games against district foes. The rest of the games are against regional/national powers outside the state of KY. Has Trinity now left Kentucky prep football in the dust and moved on to bigger and better things (i.e., being a regional power)?

 

I'd say to get "bigger than KY" they'd have to do what other teams in other states do that get them the same title for their state, and that's play teams outside of their regional(state wise) area. Playing border teams still makes them more times than not better than most(all; except maybe Highalnds), but if you want to get "bigger than KY" then you can't just play some schools that are right across the state lines. If T want's that national prestige(which I think they're capable of) then they must schedule some big time schools from GA, FL, AL, CA, PA. It doesn't even have to be the biggest schools in that state(traditionally) but some teams that are back to back state champs, or rescent state champs that've been ranked nationally.

Is T generally better than most of KY, yes, will they always be, probably, but I don't think they're recognized as much like Dematha, De La Salle, St. Thomas Aquinas, Don Bosco Prep, Trinity TX, not to mention a few others from Bama, and California that have been there multiple times.

I see your point. However, I would describe the teams you just listed as being considered the very elite in the nation. It may very well be that Louisville Trinity is on the way to becoming such a program (although it will probably be hard, given that KY is viewed as such a mediocre football state). However, I kinda see what Trinity has been doing recently (playing more games against outstanding OOS competition, and winning some of those games) as taking a step toward wanting to show how good they are against strong regional opponents. I do think it's paying off some in terms of public opinion. If you look at some of the Ohio football forums, the Cincy/Ohio fans seem to have more respect for Trinity than they do for other KY teams (including Lou. St. X and Highlands). I think a big part of that is due to Trinity's willingness to play multiple strong OOS teams a year and win a good share of these games.

Nice to hear Trinity is starting to gain some respect. Baby steps. I also think that a program can't "jump" from state power to national power and be successful. If the goal is to build a national power, you do just that...build. And it would take a fair amount of time. Not only is it a matter of building the actual team, etc, it's a huge financial committment. I'd wager the schedule for next year will be at a great expense. In order to sustain that, and possibly grow larger, it's going to take careful planning and significant support from the fans, etc.

Hoosire, we are very strict school on grades, a weekly slip is signed, and a "D" holds you out for the week. we are the only school in the county to do this, we are talking about 7th/8th graders which has nothing to do with coach Dale, we only had 10 players to play with anyway.

We have one poster on here screaming that Trinity is doing something wrong. I believe that if Trinity was doing something wrong , that everybody in the Louisville area would be screaming in harmony , especially the ones in Trinity's district . I believe this person is just trying to "stir the pot ". Why , who knows ?

In the long run, I see nothing but positives coming out of the scheduling upgrade. One of these days we just may see the Shamrocks playing on ESPN.

 

Try to measure that in terms of attractiveness to elite HS football players.
