I'm anxious to get CoachJ's take on this. He has always stated that Ballard would play Trinity for as long as he is the coach there as they need to beat the best to be the best. Perhaps he got a different set of orders from an administrator.

 

If Coach J did get a certain order from administrators, I hope it won't serve to undo what good work he has done so far at Ballard. How can he fight the administration? I don't believe it is his fault.

Larry I have 973 posts on this website. I try very hard not to (as you say ) rag on players or programs . If my posts appeared that way I am sorry , I would never trash a program or player on a message board. You are welcome to go back and check my previous 973 posts and show me anything that I've said negative about any player or program.

 

As you refer to Male's last second loss to Trinity , you have to" let go " and move on. ( I can tell that loss still bothers you today. ) Close losses hurt the most , just ask the Highlands players and fans about the "mud bowl " in Park Hills .

 

You keep saying I need to" walk in your shoes ". I have my friend , and it isn't pleasant but I don't let it consume me. Highlands doesn't have 54 state titles , like you say , but they have earned every one of them. They know both how it feels to win and also how it feels to lose. They choose to win so they work there tails off all year long. The players eat , drink , and sleep Highlands football. They are also blessed with great coaches that are dedicated as much as the players are .Every winning program has the same " ingredience " strong fan support , great coaching , and players that will do whatever it takes to win. I was in a store the other day in Ft. Thomas , and I had to smile , saw a kid wearing a " Highlands Football " shirt , he looked to be around 6 or 7 years old. He also had a mohawk hair cut just like what the varsity football players wear. You gotta love it , only in the fort !

 

Now for the " you gotta work harder " thing. I was an Ohio National Guard for thirteen years . When I compare Highlands two a days and basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood Misouri , there really wasn't a whole lot of difference . I thought that both of them were trying to kill me . Other than the 25 mile road march , the cs gas chamber , and the 8 mile run every morning before day light and breakfast , there wasn't a whole lot of difference. By the way , if you look at a map and notice that Misouri is about three inches from where it should be , it's my fault , from all the pushups that they made me do! Both the NG and HHS made me get a bur haircut . Coincidence ? Not sure . Bottom line , if your team isn't winning titles "you have to work harder period ".

Compare your overall facilities to oh say Iroquois. End of debate. I'll let you in on a little secret. The year that Male became Durrett II the light standards at Iroquois were condemned and had to be replaced. Of course Maxwell Field (who else at a JCPS school has a comperable football stadium?) had do be upgraded because JCPS had sent the old Durrett stands to other schools. Iroquois was forced to play most of it's home games that year on Friday afternnons because there wasn't enough money in the facilities budget for the upgrade of Maxwell and the new lights at Iroquois but there was never even a thought of depriving the Bulldogs of there Friday Night Lights.

 

To hear ANYONE that supports Male whine about how hard it is to compete is laughable. You're lucky I wasn't calling the plays in December. I'd have hung 50 on Male before I called off the dogs, just like Redman used to do to schools like Iroquois.

Alltell, do the fifty, its sports. Is it Males fault when the JCSB wanted them to move to Preston Hwy? Does Male say, we needs light before Iroquois? I've been to every high schools place in the city, a lot of them are not very good, is that Male's fault. Debate is not ended just because you want it to. Whats the hurry. Are you the dude that mentions Tony Driver every year?

 

Now, show us where there was no money for Iroquois due to Maxwell. Maybe no Money, but why? JCPS couldn't even do Middle school football because of money. I coach at a middle school and cannot get a playing field for the soccer's team as we speak. We are gonna have find to field a grass field and do it our selves, can you give me the contact person at Trinity? Is their field being used during the spring? Its about the kids man.

 

Now, having a son playing at Male they could have scored a lot more than 50, we all know some schools just can't compete. I remember some Atherton scores when they were in your district, how come you didn't mention that point? Debate is over? Nope...

Heck, if I was one of the chosen ones at Male I'b be happy as a pig in slop, after all isn't that why parents have chosen to send their kids there rather then rely on geography? There's another advantage for you, a student body that actually CHOSE to be there. How about we start calling Male a semi-private school because that's what it really is. I'll bet more potential students have been denied admission to Male then to Trinity. Heck, the only real difference between Male and Trinity is that Male students go their on the community's dime.

AT, I am going to have to ask you to stop bringing reason to this debate. It doesn't belong here.

All Tell, try and call the school board and ask more about the Traditional Program. Kids just can't pick on due to where they live, its Jefferson County. I know a lot parents who can't get kids in and some have children at different schools.

 

RP, you played the Rebels many times how many times have you lost to them? Iroquois (not counting the scrimmage in 1970)

 

Here is a reason...I donate $10K to Male and the money has to be shared with all sports. Trinity, I have no idea tell us.

My son had three classes 6-1/6-2/6-3 in his eighth grade there are 8-1/8-2 they lose kids to grades and some have left and got into Trinity. PM and I'll share it with you, if you are interested. Advantage who?

 

Male got their field done way before Iroquois had light problem.

Are the kids that are in school at Male there because they chose that school? That's the point, not how hard it is to get in. The point was that schools like Iroquois have a large population of students that didn't chose to be there they were assigned based on where they live. There's a reason that Male is referred to as St. Male by many public school counterparts. Male has a competitive admission process, most other public schools don't. Kids are turned away or if they don't abide by school guidelines one admitted they are sent back to their resides school.

 

Now lets talk about the fields. How many girl's baseball games are played on the baseball field? Correct me if I'm wrong but Male has separate fields for Soccer, Field Hockey & Lacrosse so who else uses the football field? How many teams compete for time on the softball field? How many public schools have large cement structure stadiums rather then the steel and board bleachers that most schools have?

 

What has stopped Male or any other school from searching nation wide for coaches? Trinity follows the same guidelines established by the KHSAA regarding off season workouts and they don't do spring football practice at all. If Male or any other school chooses to establish more stringent restrictions that's their prerogative but to call it an advantage when another school doesn't follow those same self-imposed restrictions is laughable. Since Trinity chooses not to do spring practice does that mean Male has and advantage over them because they do?

Yes, they choose the school, in our system they can choose to go anywhere they want, getting in Male/Manual has guidelines. To stay there same issues.

 

No, a child can leave his Cluster, the only drawback no busses, except for Manual.

While Trinity does may not have spring football like some other schools I am sure there is something in place. They do 7 on 7 and they just don't show up for those things. There is some form of off season work on technique and the mental aspect/learning/install.
