February 2, 201115 yr A good friend of mine is from Green Bay and he's ordered a bunch of bratwurst from Konop Meats near Green Bay. I'm pretty excited for that. Before everyone arrives a few of us are going to fry some chicken, wings, sweet potato fries and make some spicy chili. Couple that with the beer and I don't know if I'll be able to move by kickoff.
February 2, 201115 yr Don't forget that they drink a lot of brandy up Wisconsin way..........keeps 'em warm they say.
February 2, 201115 yr ^I prefer to cook the meat and mix in the cheese the night before. Then putting it on the ryes and baking them in the oven to get the bread crispy...Oh goodness, I've just convinced myself I need to make them for our Super Bowl party! Cook the day of and leave in a crockpot. Let people serve themselves. This ensures the hanky panicky stays hot and moist. When put on bread and baked, they tend to dry out some, and when they sit for 15 minutes, they're no longer that good. I'm going to a Steelers' fan's house for a party. My appetizers will have a cheese theme.
February 2, 201115 yr Some great ideas: Starting to lean towards: Pan Fried Oysters with a Smoked Chipotle Aioli Pizza Dip Bourbon Glazed Wings Caprese Salad Gotta think of some more. Being a lover of all things pizza...let's hear a little more about pizza dip please.

There is a historical plaque at the Welcome Center on I-94 entering Wisconsin from Illinois which states "The people of Wisconsin drink one third of all beer brewed in the United States." If I learned anything living there, cold doesn't bother Cheese Heads. However, when we went to Packer games, we flasked in peppermint schnapps for the hot chocolate, not brandy.
February 2, 201115 yr We're not going to have much of a party, but I'm thinking about .... Roast Beef, provolone cheese, coleslaw, french fries, and Italian bread for Pittsburgh Style sandwiches. Lots of Polska Kielbasa and Miller beer. Not that lite or low carb stuff either. We're livin' the High Life.

February 2, 201115 yr The Packers are playing and noone's making pork sausages? Bratwurst, knackwurst, even a cheddarwurst... something? I am a huge Packer fan and when they play Brats have got to be on the menu.

I spent a great deal of time in Wisconsin this past year for my job and they are very proud of this statement lol.

February 6, 201115 yr Those are even better wrapped in bacon. Isn't everything? I decided not to go all-out, and just hit the butcher shop for a lonely rack of ribs, since I'll be watching by myself.
