January 23, 201115 yr For all of you who want a foot or more of snow, you must have jobs that allow you to take snow days. Many of us don't. I understand that snow is pretty and can be fun for those who don't have to drive to and from work. But for many of us, it represents a huge headache. Count me in the group that wants this snow event to be as minimal as possible.

January 23, 201115 yr I don't get paid if I call in on a "snow day" (sick or otherwise). I can't take a vacation day either unless it was already requested and approved. A Level 3 snow emergency is the only way I would be paid.

Hopefully the people of Eastern Kentucky aren't without electricity for weeks like we were the last time we got one of those (December 09). I don't care if it ever snows where I'm at again... And before a snow lover tells me to move to Florida if I hate it so much -- Move to Buffalo if you love it so much.

Heavy wet snow is just as dangerous about breaking down trees and limbs as freezing rain. In January 1998 we had about 14 inches of wet snow in Owsley County and some areas of the county looked like a tornado had hit. I didn't have electricty for over a week and some in the county didn't have it for almost two weeks

January 24, 201115 yr So, what are the chances Louisville gets smashed by this blizzard? The snow? They say they really won't know until the runs tomorrow. But the Japan models now shows Louisville getting between a half inch to an inch of liquid, even with low ratio amounts this would bring a good amount. As far as one of my pet peeves: To be a blizzard, a snow storm must have sustained winds in excess 35 mph (or gusts) and reduce visibility to 1,300 ft or less and must last for a prolonged period of time, usually 3 or more hours. Considerable falling and/or blowing snow (i.e., reducing visibility frequently to less than ¼ mile)..... A snow storm can drop 2 feet of snow or more, but it doesn't make it a blizzard. Actually a blizzard sounds great about now. BRB, headed to DQ lol.
January 24, 201115 yr I agree. Nothing but a hassle for me. Once your out of school it's just not cool any more. Even though I'm no longer a student, as a teacher I thoroughly enjoy a snow day!
