January 24, 201115 yr I have to fly to Jacksonville in the morning from Huntington and back home Fri evening. Best case no flights I can stay home but doubtrul. Hoping it's not icy and slick. Not looking forward to this trip anyways.
January 24, 201115 yr Author The new Canadian model from this morning shows a big hit for Eastern Kentucky with snow all the way into Western Kentucky. A word of caution. These are only models showing would could happen. If it still holds true with the model runs later today, I look for watches to start going up then. There is light snow falling in Richmond at the moment.
January 24, 201115 yr No school in Fayette and Clark Co today. Can't tell how much we have yet, still dark outside. So glad you put up this thread nWo. I checked the paper yesterday and they wasn't giving anything. Hard to get weather reports on the news on Sunday.
January 24, 201115 yr Got the automated call at 5:50 this morning announcing a 2-hour delay. Then got the automated call an hour ago announcing that Mason County schools are closed. Looks like an inch on the roads right now. Weather Channel says it's 19 degrees, but supposed to get to 41. We shall see.

January 24, 201115 yr Boone County should have had at least a one hour delay, IMO. Subdivision roads were slick, as well as many side roads. 71 North was full of accidents. At 7:45am HWY 42 was still snow covered and slick. I think that many of the snow days we had could have easily been delays and not closings. I don't understand the logic? Today was definately delay-worthy!
January 24, 201115 yr I woke up around 6:30 this morning, and I was definitely surprised by the amount of snow. I'd heard there was going to be some light snow overnight, but I guess I didn't expect any of it to accumulate for some reason. My car had a little less than an inch on it, and the roads were white for a decent part of my drive to work. I also hit some very slick spots, and my car tried to slide through red lights/stop signs when I was stopping. Not my most pleasant commute.
January 24, 201115 yr What about Eastern KY?They say the low will start to develop later today, and once that sets up they will have a better idea. From the looks of it (at least now) you will have a good chance for wet and heavy snow in the south part of Clark Co. The line goes from about Greenup Co, down towards the south of Clark, and continues basically in a straight line to the southwest. The mountain areas have the best chance of this storm though. They say that the models are still not done correcting themselves to the west, so just a slight change will be huge! As they say that the cut off line for heavy snow will be a sharp cut off. But if I was in the mountain counties, I would be getting ready, as it looks like they are in for the wet and heavy snow no matter what happens.
