Any insight to why the Pendleton County game is being played on a THU night?

My understanding is that the Pendleton County game is on a Thursday night because that is the annual Woolfest weekend in Falmouth and Pendleton did not want to disrupt that event. Seriously, not a joke.

Plus the Towles v. Pike match up will be "must see" FB. Scouts galore should help ALL the kids!

 

Will be interesting to see how Dixie performs in this one. They usually start the season slowly, and look to be out of football shape until 4 or 5 games into the season. Is this enough reason to ramp up some of the off-season conditioning?

Also heard from a reliable source that as part of the Woolfest weekend, both teams will sport custom uniforms made of 100% wool. Highlands' jerseys will be the same tartan plaid as the cheerleaders' skirts/kilts, and Pendleton County will have a unique plaid of their school's colors Red and Black.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

OK, I just made it up, but since it seems that every college team has some special uniform that it could be tried here.

I can't think of when Highlands has had as difficult of an end-of-year schedule as the team will have this year. However, it does seem that Highlands' schedule leading up to the Elder game (the 'Birds play Harrison County, Pendleton County and a Holmes squad that doesn't even have a head coach right now) definitely lends itself to the Bluebirds potentially being able to rest some banged up guys in preparation for Elder, Ryle and the 4A playoffs. I am also glad to see Dixie on the schedule, especially given how good of a game they gave Highlands in the 2010 playoffs and that this game will likely get a great deal of attention on account of Pike and Towles.

I agree.

Elder is coming off a 4-5 year but with a brutal schedule, they would have been 9-1 or 8-2ish in a 6A KY format. Remember, the Rocks go to Elder on 9/9/2011 so will be interesting to see how they match up with the boys in purple.

 

Ryle lost a lot of good football players but still have Elliott coming back to drive the ship, they will be a worthy team if the JV guys step in the talent is there but last year they had a ton of leadership.
