2011 - 10th Region Tournament Structure

Featured Replies

I have never heard such belly aching in all my life from fans that have the so called team that can beat most small college teams in GRC. Heck if you are that good, then just play ball and win a regional championship and then none of this talk is happening. Which by the way, with that so called team that can beat most small college teams like I read on some post from last year saying, this GRC team should be winning regional championships if it follows the talk and hype its fans put on this forum. I haven't seen that happen in 3 years, so I would either quit putting all the expectations on this team like I read, or just do the plain and simple and just WIN the tournament in March. It might be nice to see what a group of guys can do that are very talented on the grandest stage at Rupp Arena. If you are as good as what I read, then whatever venue you are at you should dominate. BOKC, Montgomery Arena, or the Fieldhouse. You have won in Maysville in 2007, most likely with less than you have now with talent and ability despite with your back to the so called wall with the advantages, the drive disadvantages, the game times, and this and that. I think I read where Humphry said recently something like its our time to get this thing done or else.......basically he is saying put up a championship or go home and relive the last three years again. I do agree that if GRC and Humphry don't get this thing done this year, he ought to be fired as it will go down as the group that simply underchieved in March.

I've seen at least a semi-final or championship regional game from every region from the 6th through the 16th. I have never been disappointed at any of the gyms or arenas. But without question, in my lifetime I have never been a part of a better tournament atmosphere than the one at the Mason County Fieldhouse.

Probably not what the Montgomery County or northern ky. fans want to hear but it is the opinion of this unbiased observer.

Here's one "extreme" Northern Kentucky fan who agrees wholeheartedly!!!

If this old man's memory serves me correctly and sometimes it doesn't, but I believe that once upon a time they put the benches in the endzones. Go back to this format and maybe it will make Goldie happy.

If you want belly aching, let me bring up the thread when the region was at the BOK. All that the other teams and fans want is that ALL TEAMS be treated the same. If you read this thread I am not the only one showing my displeasure. If Mason Co ran the tourney the way it should be, there wouldn't be all these posts plain and simple. With all the experience that Mason Co has had at hosting the region, you would think that this would not even be a issue.

Just run the tourny the way it is supposed to be run...that SHOULD make everyone happy.

Thanks you! Someone agrees! If GRC had won the region this talk would be nothing.

I do remember when they did have the benches in the end zone. Sugar-Daddy you are giving away your age now...............

Don't worry about the seating arrangements, I believe there is a plan in the works to pay back the treatment that the student section gave out last year. Just what I hear anyway. Remember anyone can sit anywhere during regional !

Plain and simple I know people don't want to admit this but if GRC wins the region this talk isn't even going on! Bottom line.

I'm not a GRC fan... the thread is going on because of the way the 10th Region tournament is ran. If business is taken care of by the Tournament director then a whole lot of these discussions aren't going on. Fix the root issue and not the symptom.

I hope the tourny is perfect this year for everyone! I mean I don't want this same thing happening next year if the High and Might GRC Cards get beat again.:thumb:

Is the Fieldhouse a Home Court for Mason County during the Regional Tourney?

When Mason County host the Regional Tourney, do they get to practice on the fieldhouse floor during the morning or afternoons or on off days for them during the tourney?

When Mason County host the Regional Tourney, do they get to use their own locker room even if they are the visitors?

When Mason County host the Regional Tourney, do their fans get to sit in the same seats as the regular season games, even if they are the visiting team?

If any of the questions are answered "yes" then the Fieldhouse is not a neutral site but another Home game for Mason County.

I have been to the fieldhouse for regional tournaments since back in the early 80's the answer to all these are YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And this wasn't the Vandy setup. Both benches were in the stage endzone when I played. Mason County was on the side of the backboard closest to the scorers table with the other team on the opposite side of the backboard. The visitors had to cross in front of the Royals bench to get to the scorers table. And of course in the second half the visitors court was at the other end of the floor.
