I recently donated a Pearl Jam t-shirt that I had since 1991 or 92. It was still in nearly new condition too.

My wife of 40 years.

Still have my very first Christmas present: A Manager Scene with Baby Jesus, Mary, Joesph etc. Will be passing that down to my Daughter one day......

My 1968 Ninth Region Champion Basketball Jacket! Doesn't fit but I still have it.

As a general rule I'm not loose with my money so I tend to hold onto things if they do not need to be replaced. However, I was thinking recently that I may have taken it to a new level with my microwave.

 

I've had it for almost 24 years. Seems unusually long.

 

Anyone?

 

Could a mod help me out and change the title to "an unusually long time?"

 

My microwave is also 24 years old and it's funny you brought this up because I was just asking someone if they thought that 24 years usage of a microwave was long time. It's a Sanyo no frills black microwave with a turn knob timer with no other features, given to me as a Christmas gift in 1986. It was $99 bucks at the time.

 

I also have a 17 year old Britta water filter pitcher that I have used everyday since I got it. Change the filter in it once in awhile, of course. Thankfully they still make the same style of filter that will fit in it, and that's truly a surprise to me 'cause I would've figured by now that they would have played the game of changing things up to force customers to buy a whole new pitcher once in awhile.

Im 63 , I have a hairbrush that I recieved in a set as a birthday present on my 10th birthday . It is in the shape of a baseball bat , a bar of soap shaped like a baseball and a washcloth shaped like a glove came with it . I still use the brush on my hair everyday and clean it religiously . Best brush I have ever owned . Oh and my wife of 37 years , Best wife I have ever had !

Anybody know what the average life span is on a big screen TV? Mine is around 20 years old. I fell in love when I seen the one Mr. Gatti's Pizza had and just had to have one.

 

We bought one in October 1990. It treated us well until about 2006-2007. Even then, it worked alright but would turn green for a little while. I'm not sure where it is today.

It is not mine, but my parents still have their original oven/stove. It is 30+ years old.

I have a pair of Red Wing work boots that I have had for 26 or 27 years. I bought them for a summer groundskeeping job that I had and have worn them every time since, to cut the grass and do any real yard work.

 

Would I be too out of style if I still wore my 23 year old "Members Only" jacket?

When I saw this thread earlier I thought I had nothing to add but just a little bit ago I was rearranging my room and saw where I still have some uniforms from my little league teams. I'm only 21 so they are probably between 10-15 years old. Kept them with the intention of maybe one day getting them all framed together as a sort of sports collage.

I'm not old enough to have had something I kept for an extremely long time.

I have Timmy....He is a very ragged clown that I got when I was three. My parents were on the way to admit me to the hospital and stopped by the butcher shop to get me a clown that I saw in the window. The owner of the shop gave him to me for free because my mom told him that I was on the way to the hospital. His wife made him out of socks and tee-shirts. His face is painted on with magic markers.

When Timmy was 24 years old, our youngest foster daughter who had lived with us for many years, had to go home. She did not want to and we did not want her to. I felt it in my heart to give her Timmy. He stayed on my bed for all these years and she knew he was not to play with or touch. I told her to find us when she got older and give me Timmy back. When Timmy was 36 years old, he came back to me with our foster daughter holding him at our front door. Timmy is now 41 years old. I still love that little guy!!

I have a rocking chair that I got the day of my birth. My dad wanted to get me a pink one, but, all they had at the Naval Exchange was a blue one. I still have that (44years old). I also have my Disney hat that has Tinker Bell on it. I got that before my first birthday at Disney Land so, it is between 43 and 44 years old. It is in perfect condition except for the elastic that goes around the neck. I pulled it and stretched it out.

 

I can't wait until PH feels like getting on here and telling you all about some of his things!

I have an old am transistor radio that used to belong to my grandpa. Anytime during the summer that I would spend the night with him and grandma we would get it off his nightstand, and listen to Reds games on the radio on their breezeway. We would take it to Southside pool on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and listen to the games. My grandma gave it to me the night he died suddendly of a heart attack, August 3, 1984. They were watching the USA Olympic woman's gymnastic team. She told me that he would want me to have it. That is one of my most prized possessions.

My computer, have had it going on about 9-10 years.

I've had my golf clubs for 27 years and my wife for 19.

 

 

I was going to ask which one do you swing better, but thought better of it.

 

As Henry will attest, I'm a pack rat (or in today's TV vernacular, a hoarder) so I have a lot of things that I've kept for a long time. When Henry finally get's tired of some of those things, she throws them out. Since I haul out the garbage cans, I get the last look and pick out the things of mine that she throws out as being old and worn out (I may be worried that I'm next). I just take them to the farm house and put them in the basement where she never goes. You just never know when you'll need some of that stuff again. :thumb:
