W.E., Grubbs just graduated in '10 I believe and is a redshirt at Miami, OH. Grubbs was a very good player but his offer sheet included 2 sunbelt schools and 3 MAC schools. The 2 most bottom feeding conferences in FBS. Hines offer sheet in 2008 included the ACC, SEC, Big East, Big 12. But the OL guru leatherneck says Grubbs is on the same level. Of course he is entitled to his opinion, but the the offer list doesn't support his opinion.

 

I think a few scouts really missed on this one..Grubbs will be a very very good college lineman..

Grubbs would have received many more Division I offers but he committed to Miami prior to the start of his senior year.

I'm sure he will be a very good lineman at Miami, OH. I don't disagree with that. But to say a few scouts missed is saying every BCS conference school missed, because not ONE extended an offer. And to say people backed off after he committed to Miami, OH just isn't true. It didn't stop Saban and Alabama from offering Hines after he had committed to Kentucky.

I'd say it's at little more than a handful, honestly. I'm currently working on updating my list of Kentucky high schoolers to play D1 college football, and if I had to estimate from among the guys I've found who play(ed) NFL football, there's probably about 2/5 of them who didn't play D1.

Im not surprized . If you look closely at the other positions , you will find that there are many that didn't go to BCS schools also.

If you open it up to the entire roster the Steelers have 20 non-BCS guys.

This article is from 2007. But is probably about the same numbers statistically. 114 of 768 (15%) starters in the NFL came from something other than an a BCS conference school. The SEC alone had 130 starters. The MAC had 24 of 768 (3%). I don't know what to consider is full or a handful, but 85% of the NFL starters in 2007 came from a BCS conference school.

That list doesn't include players from last year and this year. CWB said above that he might update it for us.

 

Where was this list when I asked for it about a month and half ago and all people would do was throw out names. When I tried to debate it I was chastised. :idunno:

..40% not play D1 football are in the NFL as OL; no chance that is accurate!

And this is why Alabama is Alambama and KY is KY. Kentucky just doesnt go after the kids hard enough imo. If Grubbs was on KY radar last yr and they backed off because he commited to Miami then shame on them. Sounds like an excuse to me. JMO. Just cant lose kids to outta state Div 1 programs. PERIOD!!!
