December 16, 201015 yr Author Is this for Bars as well? I know some already do this. According to the news yes, but some establishments are trying to "opt out" of the ban. Not sure how that would work.
December 16, 201015 yr Wasn't this passed by a lame duck commission. I think it will be reversed in early 2011.
December 16, 201015 yr I'm glad they took this stand, even though it will be reversed by the new members. Eventually, all three counties will get their act together and pass the ordinance. It's just a matter of time.
December 16, 201015 yr I don't smoke anymore so I don't really care that much but.... I don't think Bars should have to ban smoking. I totally understand it in restaurants.
December 16, 201015 yr I am not a smoker, and I do really hate to be around it. I carefully choose where I go to avoid the smoke. But if the smoking is no longer allowed in BARS, then I forsee large groups of smokers hanging out in the bar parking lots, taking their smoke breaks. Can't say that I like that---esp. if these people have had some drinks and are loud. And if they are not allowed to smoke in the parking lot (which is still the bar owners property, right?), then does the bartender need to chase the outside smokers away, while still trying to take care of customers and keep the peace inside? And if the bar owner now has to call the cops because the outside smokers won't leave their parking lot, I sure hope that is last on the priority list for the cop (after drunk drivers, burglaries, assault, etc) who is really trying to protect us! I apologize for my ignorance, I guess I need to look up the ban to see all the parameters.
December 16, 201015 yr :taz::banana::ylsuper: I'm rather happy about it! I hope it holds up. Tired of avoiding places I'd otherwise like and tired of doing laundry because of someone else's crave for cancer. I'm very conservative and understand folks not wanting government to control them, but for health reasons I'm for this one. Oh by the way, my mother had emphysema before she passed away at 60.
December 16, 201015 yr I'm not sure what places you guys are avoiding since the majority of places in NKY already are smoke free.
December 16, 201015 yr I used to be against smoking bans on principle, but it is so much better to go to bars in smoke free areas that I can't understand why these laws aren't even more widespread than they are now.
December 16, 201015 yr How about we ban McDonalds, chocolate this is total nanny government at it's finest. Makes me sick!
December 16, 201015 yr I used to be against smoking bans on principle, but it is so much better to go to bars in smoke free areas that I can't understand why these laws aren't even more widespread than they are now. Economics is working in Campbell County. 70% of all bars and restaurants are currently smoke free. It will be overturned, Commissioner Ego,, I mean Otto, lost his seat because of his support for the smoking ban.
December 16, 201015 yr but it is so much better to go to bars in smoke free I hope it holds up. Tired of avoiding places I'd otherwise like and tired of doing laundry because of someone else's crave for cancer. I guess we should ban alcohol as well. People that are for this ban are in favor because of uncomfortableness. Well it makes me extremely uncomfortable when I go into a bar and someone is drunk where they can't speak properly. It makes me extremely uncomfortable when I am on the road and a drunk driver who puts my life at risk as well as others because alcohol consumption. It makes me uncomfortable to hear about a child or spouse that gets beaten from an alcoholic family member. Bars and restaurants are privately funded for the most part. This is ridiculous.

Let's see here: 1. Public intoxication is a crime. 2. Driving under the influence of alcohol is a crime. 3. Child and spousal abuse are crimes. So the overwhelming majority of your post contains a bunch of unfounded & inaccurate attempts at analogies.
