Smoking Ban Passed in Campbell County

Featured Replies

They could continue to serve an obviously drunk person about to drive? Some laws are put into place for the protection of people. Whether it be someone else or yourself.

This is kind of what I mean. I see nothing different than trying to ban alcohol because this person who is drunk decides to drive home. I mean after all, it effects those around him. Just like smoking. I think trying to ban it is ridiculous.

Were they smokers or do you mean from second hand smoke?

They were smokers. I worry about my future after inhaling all those years. Thanks to them, I've never smoked a cigarette in my entire life!

Drinking is not illegal, driving drunk is because it effects others. We might as well add to this thread why you don't have to wear a motorcycle helmet, but you have to wear a seatbelt???

I travel throughout the states and to a few other countries, they have all gone non smoking! What a pleasure! All businesses are on an even playing field.

You do have the choice not to go in a place that allows smoking.

I absolutely love going out and not having to endure the smoke smell. Nothing is better than pulling a late night bar session and waking up the next morning not feeling the side effects of smoke. With that said, I am big time opposed to mandated smoking bans at private establishments.

Some people will never get what your saying.

I did a paper on pros and cons of smoking bans and there were a number of resturants and bars mostly that lost a good amount of business because of it in some places.

Was that a short term loss or long term loss? Was there movement of nonsmokers coming back to the restuarant after a period of time or was your study long enough to consider long term effects?

Short term, I agree that there is going to be a negative effect.

Would be interesting to see if long term there is any movement of nonsmokers patronizing such places.

Personally, I love it, as I hate being around smoke. However, my political beliefs lead me to think this is a decision that needs to be overturned as soon as they can.

Or care, just so long as they get things their way.

As well as smokers have a choice to not go into a place in which they cannot smoke.

That statement plays both ways.

It wasn't a long term study. One of the Bars actually shut down and all the other bars in the area reported a drop in revenue. This was a particular county in Kentucky this happened.I can't find the paper anymore or I would get that info I had in it. It wasn't some crazy in depth study and I am sure some of it had to do with the recession but I would say the smoking ban also played a part.

No it doesn't play both ways. Before the ban everyone had that choice. After the ban that choice is taken away from the smokers.

I can live with that.If it was the business owner's choice to have the ban in his/her establishment.

Which it should be and a good number of places already don't allow smoking which is fine with me.
