December 18, 201015 yr You're a wise man, my friend. :thumb: Thank You my friend.I don't know about wise but I try to keep it simple using some god given Common Sense.
December 18, 201015 yr Author I wouln't care if they offered them a tax break. I just think it should be up to the owners of the establishments as do you. I see anything else, well, un-American. I could just see this as being a route the government would take. It's often times this type of "compromise" that leads to changes. Similar to that of company's that get tax breaks for being more green etc.
December 18, 201015 yr Does anyone on this thread beleive that in some point that smoking will be illegal....when does it cross the line? When they gov't t tells us we cannot smoke at our own homes?

December 18, 201015 yr Don't you think it should be up to the owners of the restaurants? Wouldn't that be as American as it gets? The post that you quoted was me saying the biggest problem I would have with this is telling the owners what they can do with their business. Although our society does that continouosly. Zoning, health regulations, building codes, equal employment, Social Security and payroll taxes, now health care for their employees, etc, etc.

Freedom of Choice. Red, White and Blue. Do not spend your money there. See your view goes both ways but you just want it to go your way. No one is holding a gun to the smokers' head and forcing them to go to a restaurant where they cannot smoke.

See your view goes both ways but you just want it to go your way. No one is holding a gun to the smokers' head and forcing them to go to a restaurant where they cannot smoke. See, this would be fine with me, which is why I say leave it up to the owners. I ask again, don't you think that's the best way to handle it? Shouldn't it be up to the owners? Why ban it it in every one of them? Is that the kind of America you want?

With the NONsmoking section to be the first section. It is ridiculous to have a non-smoking section and then my daughter and wife who are allergic to smoke and have difficulty breathing for the next 5-6 hours to have to walk through a smoking section to reach a nonsmoking section.

December 18, 201015 yr Smoking is so nasty. Being people are going to do it I say raise the price to 100 bucks a pac and use the tax money to fix some of the problems in the country. Also make it a law smoking is only permitted in your home with the doors and windows shut. Make it a thousand dollar fine the first time the law is beoken and add a 1,000 for each additional time the smoker breaks the law. Use that money to help out the schools and other problems in this country. I say football is extremely dangerous and bad for the country. I propose we raise ticket prices to a minimum of $100 for every high school game in the country. We can use this excess money to fix the problems in this country. Also, I propose a rule that football can not be played outside sanctioned football fields. So anytime you are caught tossing a football around you will be fined $1000. We can use that money to help out the schools and other problems in this country. You cool with this?
December 18, 201015 yr Author Does anyone on this thread beleive that in some point that smoking will be illegal....when does it cross the line? When they gov't t tells us we cannot smoke at our own homes? I don't see it being done at the federal level, for that matter I don't see it being done at the state level either. Too much money in tobacco, if something like this were too happen it certainly won't be while we're still ticking.

See your view goes both ways but you just want it to go your way. No one is holding a gun to the smokers' head and forcing them to go to a restaurant where they cannot smoke. Exactly.:thumb:I think most smokers do not have a problem with no smoking establishments as long as the The Owner of the business makes that decision. Not the government.:thumb: I don't feel like the Heath dept.should be able to shut a restaurant down for serving unsafe food.I do think they should be inspected twice a year and the inspections should have to be posted in the newspaper and on the wall...That's all I need to know if I am going to eat out:thumb:
December 18, 201015 yr Sure I do not play football can always watch for free on tv. I am smart enough and not addicted to enough to pay that price unlike so many smokers. Your turn.
December 18, 201015 yr I would fine other items to use. I have no addiction strong enough to make me pay the price that smokers will pay for their fix.
