A majority of people in Mercer aren't expecting district and region titles. They are expecting to be competitive. I don't think that is asking too much.

I agree that the negativity has to be contained. However we all know how it works at Mercer. The parents will complain and the coach will be on his own. All I can say is if he wins big he will be fine. He will have no support!

I hope you are wrong and I will continue to be optimistic about the climate around the football program moving forward. Everyone is happy about Rains. Everybody. Mason never had everybody on his side like Rains will. That makes a difference. People wanted to see Mason fail and he never had a chance from day 1. I think, at least for now, that negativity has dissipated.

Probably today. Rains will not have parent issues. The only time there is parent issues is if the coach lets there be. Rains has been around a long time and been successful everywhere he has been. I dont see any difference with Mercer. I also want to say...that the admin did an excellent job through this process. They had their guy and went through the process. When they were being bashed on here they were taking care of what they needed to do. This is a homerun hire for them.

I can tell everyone for a fact the Coach Raines is a good coach and even a better man. I've known him for a few years. Mercer County got a good coach when they hired him.

Coach Rains is excited and so am I. I really don't think there will be parent issues, he has never had them in the past.

Spoke with a football player yesterday who said he thought Marty Jaggers may join the staff as an assistant as well as Thomas Burton, I believe is the name he said.
