Probably because they win at the middle school level. Middle school football is typically glorified recreation league in the fact there is no off season work put in and not a whole lot of game planning/scheming. "That part of the fan base" needs to wake up and realize what the problem is between them and Boyle. Sounds like 'that part of the fan base' needs to look in the mirror.

 

This is a complete mischaracterization of Middle School football, especially in the Salt River Conference (Danville, Mercer, Lincoln, Boyle, Garrard, & Casey). I know at least 4 of those programs have off-season workouts... MS coaches also put in hours of film work, and while schemes in middle school are generally less complex than in the high school, many run what are, in effect, stripped down versions of their high school systems.

Yes. I also wonder if the administrators who dont support athletics like they should, also take notice that the schools who score in the TOP 30 in regards to CATS Testing every year are also schools that are home to dominant sports programs, football in particular. My point? Great academics and great athletics go hand it hand, unfortunately there are others that 1) Don't want this to be or 2) Realize this, but pretend that it doesn't.

I just got a text that Mercer offered the job to someone but the sender of the text doesn't have a name() Has anyone heard anything like that in the past day or so? I am assuming it's not legit and that no one has heard anything like that otherwise it'd be on here but I am throwing it out there nonetheless to see if it sticks.

I haven't heard this and have a few friends 'inside' the school/Mercer football program and feel confident they would have already contacted me if this was true. Did the text give the name of the new coach? You don't have to post on here so we don't stir something that may be rumor only, but if you want you can PM me.

No. The text simply said 'I heard Mercer offered the job to someone but I don't know who.' I told them I'd throw it up here and see if anyone had heard anything. If there is news like that more often than not it is on here before it starts making the rounds on cell phones. I tried to tell the texter to check BGP. I checked the schools website and it is posted on there, just checked the KHSAA site and it is posted there too. And the madness begins, huh?!

I haven't. Nothing for a while.

I heard that they have formed a committee. Also heard that they may have current players on the hiring committee. I don't know if that is indeed the case but if so that seems pretty odd to me.

Current Players, haha, boy that is exactly what they need.
