Respect is taught at home and it clearly was not discussed at the Pike dinner table from what I am reading and hearing regarding his antics on the sideline and in games. Its one thing to be emotional and immature but to talk to coaches the way he supposedly does, that is inexcusable. Whats even worse is the fact that the coaches take it.

Since when doesnt Highlands have great facilities? That stadium is a fantastic place to play football. Great environment! Big screen TV! Great crowd! Club seating on the school side! Come on!

 

Defenders cannot contact receivers who are "in route". Once they "break" into their route, the contact is off limits. Those hits were helmet to helmet and it is a shame that the referee didnt throw the flag when he was right there to call it.

 

If we fire coaches who cannot beat Highlands, there will be no more high school football.

 

Highlands Defensive Coord Carl "Skip" Hicks used to call it the "kiss technique". It is one of those plays that fall into the category of "rub off" or for those who dont know what that is "illegal screen or pick" on offense.

:rolleyes:If some are defending Spritzky as the saviour of Dixie football, we can certainly credit Lickert the same way. At this point, Lickert has quite a bit more of an up side.

I know it's fashionable to bash Tom Spritzky but I think he got more out of his team this year than expected. He lost a lot of talent last year and came back and played a tough schedule. They probably beat CCH if their TWO quarterbacks do not go down.

 

I agree Clyde. In the two match ups against Highlands this year, Dixie has looked better than any year since 02. There is a lot of athletic talent on Dixie's squad, starting with Pike, but there is additional talent in Leonard, Gohorn, Bruns, Pillman and Zumdick just to mention a few. I think Tom and his staff did a very, very good job of using that talent and placing it in the right positions this year.

Then I felt sorry for the coaching staff to have to 'deal with' a great player who is such a handful. Then I felt sorry for the other players on the Dixie sidelines and the parents of those kids. They have seen this behavior from football, to basketball to baseball. (he's a talented, multi-sport athlete) The sideline antics have plagued these other kids for years and I can't believe other parents and coaches have not stopped it because he is disrepecting EVERYONE. Pike is his own worst enemy. It was only a matter of time before he got ejected.

I'll tell you one thing I know. It is much easier to win at Dixie than it is at Holmes or Dayton. We all know the reasons why. I think Tom should do a lot better than what he does at Dixie. There is a ton of talent at Dixie year in and year out and they always seem to underachieve. I believe there is a lack of discipline on that team and it starts from the top. Dixie is stuck in mediocrity..I guess that is ok in Edgewood. If it wasn't things would of changed by now..

Dixie's problems start at the top! Spritzky's antics toward the end of the game is par for the course for him especially when he's losing. IMO, he's an embarassment to the school. I truly believe that he would have won more games in his career had he paid more attention to his team and his game plan rather than what the officials called or didn't call. I know for a fact that there are numerous officials that will not work Dixie football games at any level because of the constant abuse they get from the coaches. Except for Todd Newton, all the coaches need to be removed! He's the only one that acts professional. I feel sorry for the kids. They need a coach who will teach and lead. Can you imagine what would have happended if Pike or any other had acted that way during a game with Coach Mueller, Charlie Coleman, or Bob Schneider?:madman:
