People should spend more time talking about stuff like this rather then bashing 15-18 year old kids and the men and women who give of their time to coach them and the world would be a better place.

Amen to this. This is what this site needs to be about.

If Spritzky is going to be given some blame for how one player misbehaves, then he should be given some credit for when a player like Leonard does something very admirable. Kudos to the Leonard kid.

 

Tom is a very emotional guy (aren't most coaches?) and while I don't like a few things I've seen of him over the years (I don't like it when any coach celebrates in an animated way when he beats his former program), I understand it. Big game, looked like he had a real shot to win the game until things unraveled, in a pressure situation, so I think we should cut him so slack if he was complaining too much too the refs.

 

I do agree that players can reflect the actions of their coaches. When a coach starts complaining a lot about the refs, it's only natural for the players to start doing so. Tom probably woke up Saturday morning and wished he had remained a little more composed when things started to unravel.

 

Tom is a good guy, a good person and a good coach who has done good things for the DH program. It's up for him and the administration to determine if he has taken DH as far as he can take them; not me.
