I hang around Nathan Brummett when he played for SK they used to call him the moose he was well over 250 pounds playing fullback and linebacker. He is about 200 pounds now and in great shape he should have played college ball he was one tough kid

 

I can agree with you on that. I played against him a few times and Brummett was definitely a load. I didn't know that he didn't go on to play college ball anywhere, that is surprising.

Highlands RB - a ton of them, but Frisk was the best !

 

Covcath's other LB with Big Bad Woolf was darn good also and tough as nails. Ziegler I think his name was.

"Big Lew" was so funny and he didn't even know it. Talk about a huge person. 6'4" 300. That guy could dominate when he wanted to. No question he could have played at a higher level if he wanted to. Notice how I use te phrase, "if the wanted to." UL wanted him. I remember him when he lifted weights for the first time as a freshman. He benched 300lbs with pure strength with no firm. Amazing potential.

 

1990 was stacked. Boone was ranked number one, cov cath, holmes, lloyd, dixie, beechwood, highlands all were real good. Back then only two teams per district made the playoffs and there were only 4 classes. Making the playoffs was such a feat back then. I wish it went back to that.

Can't argue what I haven't seen. I will say that if he was better than Brandon Berger, then he was not just great but amazing. Berger was the man.

 

Brandon broke his all time rushing record back in 92.

I saw Tacket play and he was a beast and much bigger and better than Brandon Berger. Just ask the Guru. : )

 

Berger was a very good football player mind you. It was his Jr year I believe that Bellevue visited Edgar McNabb field and beat the Beechies in the Regional finals of playoffs and Mr. Berger was not a happy camper marching up the driveway to the locker room.

Yes, Kevin's brother Greg played at Beechwood in the mid to late 90's when they won like 6 state championships in a row. Excellent QB who later played at UC I believe and now is the Offensive Coordinator at Beechwood.

 

The QB you are thinking of NeerFan is Craig Wilmhoff. He was a very good QB who was tough as nails.

 

I don't know how I forgot to add Wilmhoff to my list earlier in the thread with other previous players from Beechwood, he was very good and may be one of the toughest QBs out of NKY at the high school level.

Craig and Craig without a doubt are the 2 best and toughest QB's to ever play at Beechwood. They were also stud LB'as a well. Craig was a senior when I was a freshmen but he did play with my brother. I grew up and graduated with Greg. We actually won 4 in a row. They were a 2 point conversion away from winning 7 in a row because if you remember they lost to Mayfield 28-27 in the 95 final. Then they won the next 2 in a row.

Beechwood- Scott Tackett may have been the Tigers best RB. I'm going back quite awhile so if any of you beechwood fans remember is there any arguments on this one?

Mike Murray, Beechwood Class of 1975, was not only one of the best High School football players but one of the best all around athletes ever from Northern Kentucky. Football/Basketball/Baseball. Played quarterback for Beechwoods 1st ever State Final Football Team (1974 loss to Murray High School 14-0), but also play baseball for WKU in the College World Series and later for the Cincinnati Reds, Billings, Mont. Single A team.
