Seems that both have issues finding opponents.

Even though the time of possession was skewed, Highlands had more than enough opportunities offensively. They just didn't get it done tonight.

They have had a kick blocked the previous 2 weeks, that possibly played into the decision as much as what they saw in the muddle huddle

I'm not being critical, but apart from Towles, where is Highlands running game? Maybe it's b/c the Birds have been so effective with the pass. Gold's reinjury of his shoulder would be a devastating blow to this team.

Im not positive but I think its a decision they make on the field when they see how the opposition lines up. Its the muddle huddle.

 

It caused the Birds to have to chase points all night especially since they couldnt stop the Elliot-Hempel show.

Highlands had the ball less than a third of the time of possession of Ryle. That is how you beat the Birds.

The Birds were getting beat on the the line, the missed extra points also hurt...but the real shame is that the game was decided by such a badly missed fumble call, which Ryle turned into a TD.

I'm sure injuries hurt Highlands like many of you are suggesting, but let's not forget that Elliot was out most of the second half with an injury. 22 carries in the first half and only four in the second. Hempel willed them to a win tonight.

Instead of worrying about who is 1A and 1B in Northern Kentucky, I would assume that the coaching staffs of both teams - both excellent teams, by the way - will be concentrating on the next five weeks.
