I always thought the actual field at Campbell Co. was horrible, but the set-up for the stadium and seating was nice. The track there was very fast too for those that ran track. I wonder who has the 4X100 record at the Donnie-Carnes meet? haha. but on a more serious note, they don't seem like they need a new stadium, rather upgrade the old one. Although a stadium on campus would be nice.

Nothing wrong with the current stadium that a turf playing surface couldn't fix.

 

My understanding was this could have been a done deal a few years ago with a large chunk of $$'s coming from the NFL through one of their charitable funds that helps fund "community projects", especially ones that benefit multiple teams/schools in an given area. The lack of cooperation from the CC administration mentioned above killed that deal and the funds went elsewhere. That one's a real shame as a combination of the NFL grant and some seed money & resources from the various involved entities, could have renovated the stadium and installed the turf field which would have benefitted the entire community!!

 

Since we are where we are in good old A-Town, I do think a new stadium would be great for CC out in Claryville SOME DAY; but can't imagine that given the current economic climate that spending taxpayer $$'s on this would be very popular. But I must say nothing the CC admin does would surprise me??

 

If true, a good choice building new elementary schools vs. a new stadium. They've certainly got the land when they decide to proceed, and could either locate where the current soccer field is, or elsewhere.

Not to continue to hijack the thread, but if Campbell County had embraced Brossart football back at its inception, a cooperative effort could have been worked out between ourselves, Campbell County, the Red Devils and other organizations who use the field, and Bob Miller Stadium could have had a turf field in place for the past four years now. Activities could be held there on a daily basis generating revenues through rental fees and concession monies.

 

Instead, at the time there was bad blood between the two schools because of Brossaart using the CCMS gym to host an All "A" Regional which didn't sit well with a lot of the middle school parents, it was an election year, and it certainly would not have been popular to support such a cooperative venture at the time.

 

Now, five years later, I think the Campbell program has learned two things about Brossart football. One - that we are here to stay, and Two - that we are not a threat to them. We might be competitive in all of our other sports but football is a whole different animal and we are not on the same planet as 6A Cambell County and probably won't be for a while.

 

I'm not sure that the "money/influential" people who would have worked to make a turf field at Bob Miller a reality then are still as passionate about it now, but if Campbell County is not building a new on-campus stadium, which they would prefer, putting turf on Bob Miller Stadium for the general use of all of the aforementioned groups and the community in general would still be benefical to all.

No doubt would have been a crowded schedule, but isn't that what a "productive & cost effective facility" should be?? JV & Frosh along with Red Devils already schedule around Varsity teams, and multiple soccer venues are available if needed. I've always loved CovCath's Saturday afternoon home games, and it might have been cool to see BB follow that path; but with only 5-6 home games a year for Friday's, it couldn't be too tough to figure out??

While I'm sure Highlands doesn't DISLIKE your kids don't KID yourself into believing they're being benevolent. They're doing it for two reasons: cash and exposure.

 

Once again Highlands understands and CC BOE does not. If CC Boe cared about football they would have said use the flield any Sunday (no school events that day anyway) you need, kids, tax payers enjoy our field. I am fan of CC football. I want them to do very well and would love to see the BOE fix some of the issues. Only they have the power to change things. Not you, me, the kids or anyone else. They need to Build a new stadium. Open it up to Brosart (the extra revenue would help pay for maintence). Let all kids from CC area play there. Even if it is only 2 games a year. Get behind the programs. The kids all get along, why doesn't the adults and BOE understand this? If you always do, what you always did, you will always get what you always got. Lets do something different and get something better.

This is a ridiculous line of thinking. You make the choice to go to a private school. A private school has no right to public facilities. You are making the choice not to get benefit out of your tax dollars.

Clyde, I have a question, I know you are against the use of tax money for projects such as this. I think I have read you say it before. But, what is the difference in building an elaborate gym with tax money and building a new football complex with tax money? You may feel the same about both, just wondering because I know there are some very expensive gyms out there, heck we have one. What's your thoughts?

My guess would be CC's current field would get a patch up job to help for the lower level teams and this would only be a HS field except maybe for charity events and perhaps play off games occasionally for the lower divisions, just to make all of the kids feel special. Atleast that's how I think it should be and I'm on the other side of the river(the licking).
