SK should have checked with some of their fans first. I thought this move to Lexington 6A was good so that they could have some competition. :laugh:

I had no problem with the Ryle comment until I actually saw the mileage they quoted. .05 of a mile?! That'a ridiculous. Not a 1/2 mile, but 5/100 of a mile? That's 88 yards - less than a football field. That is an utterly silly argument.

I think once you factor in the distance around to the backside of Ryle's HS and stadium then SK is closer again.

 

Good point. If the actual distance to the stadium from the main access road is included, SK's stadium is .002 miles closer to each school. So, that would be .002 x 1760 yards = 3.52 yards x 3 = 10.56 feet. SK is actually 10 and 1/2 feet closer to each school than Ryle.

It is a poor argument. If anything they should have atleast shown the difference between the schools and the Walton exit and then reminded people that SK will be traveling to Walton via back roads where as Ryle would be on I75 South within a few minutes on 42. Either way it's a weak argument Ryle is still closer by about 5-10 minutes to the Lexington schools but whether or not thats enough reason to move Ryle out of the district well that's a different story and I doubt it is.

Isn't SK the school that has been spending millions on all of their new fields, locker rooms, and gyms?????:idunno: And with having only 4 teams in a district that means every other year it would be 2 trips to Lexington in a season????:idunno:

As I stated in another thread I've never understood why SK was moved in to the 8th region and as a result I feel like it's meant alot less fans traveling to see SK play due to how far away half of their games are.

I really think what you have above is the best idea, especially if it's about geography, but only if Ohio county does in fact want to move up.

 

Question if SK joined a 5 squad NKY district and Ohio county did in fact request to move up where would they be placed? Would they be put in the Lexington district with the other 2 Lex schools and Scott County or would the districts have to be arranged even further. If it would require further moving of teams to accomodate the addition of Ohio county then I just don't see this ever happening and that's even if they still want to be a part of 6A which now seems to be in question all together.

And that's what's so stupid - 32 is just an arbitrary, made-up number. But it becomes real important when you've already decided that all 32 teams go to the playoffs and if you have a 5-team district, there would be - heaven forbid - a bottom-tier team that wouldn't advance with all the other winless, cellar-dwellars who have automatically "earned" their right to a playoff game.

 

I hope SK does get into the NKY District. I couldn't care less if it's 5 teams and the last place team doesn't get to advance. SK has a nice program and SK-Ryle is a good rivalry. My only objection was their silly "Ryle is 14 steps closer to Lexington than we are" argument.

Perhaps it's a weak argument but even if it's 10 yard difference, they have a 10 yard case. In the long run it will hurt the gate a bit, and everyone is hurting for those dollars. Personally I want to be in the NKY district, just one more reason to drop the six class configuration.

It will hurt the gate a good amount. I can take off an hour early or go in early to make it to most games in NKY but when they play in Lex I will be less likely to be able to meet someone at the game like I was able to this past week with my girlfriend and it'll be alot less likely that I can get out of work 2 hours early. Sure it's only 3 games a season, but that doesn't include the playoffs, and let's face it SK and everyone in their district will mkae the playoffs because they have 4 teams in every single district. This really is pretty dumb.
