Simon Kenton tries to throw Ryle and Ohio County under the bus!

I understand proposing a switch with Ryle in districts.

But I can't believe they petitioned for the KHSAA to move Ohio County up from 5A to 6A just to appease SK.

Is it just me or is that way out of line?

It's about as out of line as some things said by SK fans on here about other schools...

I think once you factor in the distance around to the backside of Ryle's HS and stadium then SK is closer again.

I read it as Ohio County had already requested the move and SK was supporting it so they could remain in their current district. If that's not the case then that's pretty bad.

If you look at Ohio County's response they agree with where they were placed.

Didn't realize how .05 miles would make that big of a difference.

Right! Ohio Co just wants to accept their placement, but SK volunteers them to move up to 6A.

Mike Fields (Lexington Herald Leader) did put in his article that it was expected that Ohio County would request to move up.

See here - http://www.kentucky.com/2010/10/05/1464533/more-changes-in-store-for-football.html

At least seven schools are expected to request to be moved up in class for geographical reasons: Boyle County (4A to 5A); Cooper (4A to 5A); Greenwood (5A to 6A); Johnson Central (4A to 5A); Lexington Catholic (4A to 5A), Harrison County (4A to 5A), and Ohio County (5A to 6A).

But it appears Ohio County did not follow through with that request.

Thanks Bluegrasscard, that changes things a little in my mind.

If SK was relying on that information thinking Ohio was going to petition to move up, then I can better understand where they were coming from.

Still, they could have worded it a little better.

That's pretty sad on SK's part then.

Ok, that is better.

The Ohio County comment was over the top. I see nothing wrong with the Ryle comment. If the khsaa said they used geography as the determining factor, and the numbers given are accurate, then they have a legit argument. It's only .5 miles as mentioned, but when the longest drive to a current district rival is about 20 minutes, and now your new closest district game is nearly 3 times that, I'd probably bring this point up too.

If I'm Highlands for grins and giggles, I ask the KHSAA to place me in Simon Kenton's district just to see their response

I knew that Ohio was 'on the bubble' and had to find the article. But SK should have verified the formal action of Ohio County if they were going to put that in. I had to double check the Ohio paper work also.

Maybe some poker going on out there with some schools showing their hands early and some waiting to see what others do before they file their official response.

I was having the same thought.
