Is Steve Lickert establishing himself as one of the up and coming coaches in KY?

Featured Replies

Coach Lickert did well at Dayton. He left Dayton and now Dayton is in the tank. He took over a Holmes program that was in the tank and now the Bulldogs are 6-0 headed into a game with Dixie that will really tell how far the Bulldogs have come.

I think we all talk about it, I know I have with several people when it comes to Coach Lickert, but are we seeing proof of it? Work with me sister.

He most definitely is. He's done wonders with both programs that he has led.

It's interesting how many Highlands grads there are among the NKY coaching ranks. Makes one wonder if the heir-apparent to the throne of the Blue Kingdom might be out there somewhere.

Granted their district isn't the greatest but they have throttled those opponents. What he's done is such a short time is quite impressive. It's good to see the Holmes program flourish under Lickert.

Yes, I believe Steve has what it takes. He gets kids to believe in him.

There is no way anyone can answer this question no. When I was a player at Holmes we were good we just couldn't get passed Highlands. The program had some really hard years after our class. Lickert has it fun to go to games again. Yes the district competition there playing isn't that great but I believe he has some quality opponents on this schedule to prepare this team for a deep run. He s one heck of coach and his record is proving what he can do.

Its like somebody gave him the keys to a bunch of race cars.

Lickert is a great coach and can get the best out of his kids, talent or no talent he gets them to buy into what hes saying and develops the young men not only to be succesful in football but in life also. He is one the best coaches and will keep doing great things!

Lickert answered Guru's "up and coming" question when he was at Dayton. He's 'established' himself at Holmes. The real question is does he stay at Holmes to win state championships there or jump to KY's higher level of competition with a CovCath, a Dixie, a Boone(after last night) or maybe wait for Mueller to die (I don't ever see Dale retiring. He has too much fun.)?

This guy is a great coach, and from what I've heard even a better person. I've heard people talk that he's more of a life coach, with football being a bonus. Good for him.

He has done a great job, and I am interested to see what is in store for his and Holmes' future. I hope he stays and maybe with the reclassification next year the Bulldogs can finally get back to competing with CCH and Highlands.

Although Holmes doesn't play in a tough district, you still have to coach the talent you have and Lickert knows how to get the most out of the athletes on that team.

Talk to one of the Holmes players about Coach Lickert and watch their faces light up. He knows how to treat the players both on and off the field which is why you're seeing the results.

One of the biggest reasons for Holmes success is because kids want to play for him and he is able to get kids out that normally wouldn't come, if not for him.

Yes he has. The kids at Holmes and bought into what he is doing down there and it shows. He is a perfect fit down there and the kids really needed someone like Steve to get that program rolling.

Absolutely!!!!! Coach L picks his next assignment in NKY. Except Highlands of course. Go Birds 20n10
