September 9, 201016 yr I'm not big on "well at least we made it." Nobody, except myself, spindoc, ColoneyCrazy, and 7 others predicted the Reds to make the playoffs this year. I think making the playoffs is a huge step for the Reds this year, and the pennant race, and playoff experience would only make them that much better next year. I feel the Reds future is very, very bright.

September 9, 201016 yr Hardly anyone expected Cincy to make the playoffs this year, let alone be 6 games up on September 8th. Once you get there anything can happen, and at this point it would take a major collapse for them not to make it, IMO.

September 9, 201016 yr Am I the only one who is bothered by the fact that counting tonight's loss to the Rockies the Reds are 11 below .500 against teams with a winning record? 21 - 32? Anyone else? The Reds haven't proven they can beat the upper-tier teams. No reason to think that'll change come post-season.
September 9, 201016 yr Author It does a heck of a lot for me than losing seasons do. I get that. It will be great to have that atmosphere. My thinking is that just because you finally made it doesn't mean you'll be here on a semi-regular basis. You had best take advantage of it while you can. I'm not sure this team is ready.
September 9, 201016 yr 2-1 Rockies 2-2 Giants 2-1 Braves 2-1 Phillies 1-2 Padres 3-6 Cards 12-13 against teams with other playoff contenders at GABP....9-7 against teams other than St. Louis, who isn't making it. If the Reds get the best record in the NL, which is definitely possible with there remaining schedule....That isn't a bad thing.

September 9, 201016 yr Regular season records mean squat. You are running guys out there that may never see the field in the playoffs. You can get a teams 1 while you're running out your 4. Have the Reds had more than one series where they matched up their 1, 2, and 3 with the other teams? 1-2 against the Cards with two Cy Young candidates. I've been saying, this team reminds me of the Rays '08 Rays. Young pitching with Chapman (Price) in the bullpen and a good mix of young talent and some veterans.

How many times do you remember the Reds facing a 1 with Cueto on the mound? You don't think there's a noticeable drop in most teams 3's compared to their 1's? Ask the Yankees about that.
