Best running backs in EKY last 20 years!

Featured Replies

I just Have to put him out here by him self.

Lynn Camp's QUENTON HENSON Ranked 5th in the state all time Career Rusher. With no 400 yard games or 3000 yard seasons he was consistent. 1st team all-state running back two years in a row. (but did not make the Kentucky all-star team!! How does that happen???????????

Lawson was runner up for Mr. Football and First team All State and Stradley was all state year before last and didn't make it. Don't quote me but I think their coach has to nominate them. Henson, Lawson, and Stradley were definately good enough to make it.

Shawn Robbins was outstanding for Bell, as was Scott Chaney. Arliss Beach was outstanding too and deserves mentioning.

They get my vote for top two. However, I've only seen two running backs from Eastern Kentucky. :D They were good though.

Matt Bargo - Corbin

Matt(6'2" 220 lbs. with sprinter type speed) was virtually unstopable his Sr. year(averaged around 14 yards per carry) and led Corbin to an undefeated regular season. Corbin was upset in the playoffs(28-27 in OT) that year(1996) by a team that they had beaten easily earlier in the year when they decided to throw the ball 40 times and only run Bargo 4 times the entire game. Most Corbin fans never got over that decision which eventually led to a coaching change. Matt signed with EKU, but had to give up football after his freshman year due to an injury.

Stephen Cook - Corbin

Stephen was on his way to being one of Corbin's all-time greats before he suffered a severe leg injury during the playoffs his junior season.

Agree Mr Cook was well on his way to being the best back in the start that year. Now plays OSL for Cumberland College.

Jarrod Lawson- Corbin 2300 yards 30 tds, Mr. Football runner up as a senior.

Matt Batgo while back but i remember him well, he looked like Lawson when he broke free on a big run :D Nick Cobb and Tim Masingill about the same time Zach Prewitt Mondo Cima both big time backs

Corbin has had some very big, very powerful, talented and fast backs here recently

Stephen Cook

Mike Neal

John Sizemore

Jarrod Lawson

Brad Lawson

Justin Moore

All very good backs, that would punish you for your mistakes.

Howard - Belfry

Beach - Ashland

Hamilton - Pikeville (I think thats his name or it might be Coleman)

Blume - Johnson Central ( can't argue with the numbers he put up this year)

Micah Caudill - Belfry

Jonah Caudill - Belfry

West - Lawrence County

:ylsuper:

showing my age, but just to start:

Chris Hutt - Quickest

....ran wild at 1990 state championship & then at Cov Cath the next year until shoulder injury (guess we were a 1man team)

Jason Nichols - Best Combo of Eyes/Feet/Strength

...... pure instinct for cutting and hard nosed runner, held many Ashland records till Beach

in a hurry for now...

Cheers, Woody Jr

Quinton Henson - Lynn Camp...I figured he'd be mentioned on more lists. He was a great football player. Didn't he get a scholly to Michigan, or am I mistaken?

Others that I didn't see or overlooked...

Deshae Henson - Clay County

Anthony Sharpey and Pete Combs - Hazard

Marty Reagan - Rockcastle County

...and from my home team...

Jason White and Latt Harmon - Breathitt County

J.Lawson corbin

Regan rockcastle

Henson lynn camp

Blair north laurel

Howard Belfry

thats my top 5

Brent Coleman-93-96-Pikeville

Quenton Henson-95-98-Lynn Camp

Doug Howard-01-04-Belfry
