I was surprised by the win, but after looking at some tape of Covington Catholic after the Ryle game I knew the score of that game was not truly indicative of the type of team Covington Catholic had. Ball pursuit was not very good, but that appears to be something they've worked on within the last week. How did the QB from LC play? He is considered a top prospect.

CovCath looked like they applied a lot of lessons learned from the opening week game. The offense clicked well and showed its talent and speed early and often.

 

LC did not have a great night offensively but the defense is where there is a steep challenge right now. With only 8 seniors this young team has a lot of players going both ways. Next week is St. X.

 

Congratulations to CovCath for a great bounce back win and hopefully the start to a great season.

Wow! I was talking to several CC parents yesterday and not one saw this result from this game. Great job by the Colonels!

I said in the prediction thread this one would be closer than expected because these two always play eachother tough.

 

Very surprised by the outcome...especially the way Ryle handled Covcath in week 0.

 

Shows the type of resiliance and character that this CCH team has to be able to bounce back after a huge defeat.

I think we saw that CCH is going to be dangerous against a finesse team such as LC.

 

The pass from Bir to Connolly for the 61 yd TD was a perfect pass.

 

Every LC offensive player knows who Paul Ritter is now.

Good rebound win for CovCath. Bir's numbers are quite impressive.

Boy, this headline is really going to shock some people! Cov Cath made a strong statement last night.

A ton of positives for CovCath in this one.

 

1) The coaches did a great job of easing Bir into the game. They gave him a chance to build confidence and you could see it build from the stands.

 

2) The hits kept coming. You always have some kids who will hit, but in the past three years I have not seen CovCath hit as a team like they did last night.

 

3) O-line did a wonderful job. The big guys deserve a lot of credit for coming back big.

 

4) Slabaugh was a monster. He was one of the very few highlights from Ryle, but last night he was the spark that got the fire going.

 

5) Speical teams has been a liability for CovCath in the past couple of years. No more. Kicking, coverage, and returns are now a weapon.

 

6) Defense had a great game. How many times did the LC punter have to stand in his own end zone in the first half?

 

7) Love the half back pass. The running game set that one up perfectly.
